Description

Hi! My name is Hannah, I'm from the United States, and I am 25 years old. I was Workawayer from 2022-2024, where I stayed with families in Switzerland, Iceland, Italy, and Greece teaching English and helping around the home. I am very excited to be back on the platform planning my next experiences in 2026-2027! I am looking for opportunities starting in September where I can help out arts organizations (especially performing arts) and be able to take dance classes or at least have a space to create. My previous time with Work Away 2 years ago was very formative for my personal growth, and I am looking for a similar experience to broaden my perspective as I discern my next steps in carrier and life!

I am currently the Assistant Technical Director at a regional theatre in Vermont and have been building sets for the past two years. Before that, I worked in costumes and deck crew for dance and theatre shows. I also have been getting more experience with set design recently, which is a growing interest of mine! I am leaving my job at the theatre in June because I would like to go back to traveling again. I am a dancer and would like to pursue dance more, including my upcoming dance intensive/residency in Greece for a month this summer!

I grew up in northern New Hampshire, which is a small state in the north east of the United States. I was raised in a rural area where I was homeschooled and participated in dance and various sports. Besides working in theatre, I teach dance (hip hop) and take dance classes at a local studio. I have worked as a babysitter, pet sitter, mechanic's helper, barista, and at a wedding venue.

I graduated from University in 2022 with a dual BA in Classical Studies and Philosophy, and a minor in Dance. I like to use philosophy as an approach to understanding the underlying fundamental ideas that our world is built upon. I studied Latin for about 10 years, and I am interested in learning new languages. I studied abroad in Greece and would love to learn Greek because Greece has a special place in my heart! A few of my hobbies include going to museums, concerts, events, knitting, sewing, reading, thrifting, and going on walks. I want to continue to work creative fields like set design, technical performing arts, events, art installations, dance, and choreography. I have traveled through Europe, as well as Turkey, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

My Work Away experiences have been baby sitting, teaching English, and helping around the house (driving, cooking, shopping, laundry, and cleaning). My dad owns a rally car driving school taught me about general mechanics, while my mother was an artist and homeschooled my sister and I, which has influenced my perspective on education and travel. My most recent employment has been at a professional theater working in the costume shop and as an intern with an economic development company. I have worked at a wedding venue where I baked and make pizzas. I also worked at a cafe where I cooked breakfast and lunch and made espresso drinks. In my longest employment, I have worked part time for my dad in his motorsports shop helping with vehicle assembly, easy welding tasks, and with using various power tools. I have also worked part time during college as a performing arts technical staff member, an engineering lab assistant, a tutor for college courses, and an overnight host for high school students. I have also helped with a building project in the Dominican republic and did an internship with an environmental solutions company.

Autres infos...

I like to play chess, sew, garden, hike, cross country ski, and weld. I always appreciate a good film recommendation, especially foreign and independent dramas...let's just say that I like to right amount of "weird." I had a horse when I was younger and have some experience riding and taking care of horses. I also can drive a car with a manual transmission and have driven ATVs and tractors.
