  • Description

    Hi, nice to meet you!
My name is Isabelle, I am 32 years old and from the North of Germany. I would describe myself as an open-minded, creative, and curious person.

About two years ago my partner Gerd and I settled down in a small town in the southeast of Schleswig Holstein to start our lifetime project of creating a home.
In 2023 I switched to working part-time in my job as a quality engineer in the medical technology/life science industry in order to spend more time in nature and gain more experience, knowledge and a deeper understanding of living a life in harmony with nature. Also in 2023, I have started to work with permaculture and the process of planning and evolving our garden that spans an area of over 2000 m².
When travelling, I am looking for diverse kinds of inspiration and a vivid interpersonal and cultural exchange, especially regarding approaches to self-sufficiency, permaculture, regenerative agriculture and communal living - which is why I have become a workawayer.

I am particularly interested in learning more about organic market gardening (fruits & veggies), agroforestry, food forests, wild herbs, humus formation, (re)development of natural cycles and self-sustaining systems e.g. with regard to water management, building with natural materials and food conservation techniques. I enjoy being around animals and wild nature of all kinds.

In 2018 I spent over three months in Norway working on a couple of organic farms via WWOOF. The experiences I made taught me a lot about nature, people and life and I am looking forward to being inspired by many more other places and people.

    -------------------------------------------
    Hello also from my side!
I am Gerd, 30 years old and since 2023 I live together with my girlfriend Isabelle and my sister’s family in an older house with a little bit of a garden located in a small town about 50 km east from Hamburg.

Up to 2022 I developed professional cleaning machines as a mechanical engineer. However, due to my care for planet earth, I looked out for a more purposeful job and the possibility to give my time and energy into projects that focus on solutions for the problems humanity faces. That’s why, in 2023, I started a PhD to research for solutions in mobile hydrogen storages as part of the needed turnaround in energy supply.

Since I enjoy handcrafting, I currently spend my free time with renovating our house by e.g. installing additional electric, fresh- and wastewater grids, building a new kitchen from the scratch and supporting my girlfriend in gardening projects. Although I have not done many of these projects before, I just really like to try new things in order to learn and improve my skills.
Moreover, I play the drums in a rock cover band and do triathlon.

I like to discover new cultures, alternative ways of living and like to put myself in different point of views. What I kept most in mind from my past vacations, hiking trips or Woofing experiences are the encounters with other people. These exchanges have been a great source of inspiration for me.
Topics I’d like to learn more about are organic gardening, traditional crafts, and ways of self-sufficiency. I’m happy to integrate myself into new projects and to get to know other places, habits, and people.

Gerd and I went woofing in Norway on a couple of farms. There, we e.g. built an irrigation system, drove tractors and forklift trucks, splitted fire wood with axes or machinery, cared for sheep, seeded, cultivated, mulched, pricked, planted, harvested and preserved different kinds of vegetables and berries.

  • Autres infos...

Besides the slow food movement, we really appreciate the slow travel philosophy and are looking for places that can be reached by public transport – just so we neither need to own/rent a car nor to take a plane.

In September / October 2025 we are looking for a farm/project/host in the North of Norway :)
