Hi, I'm Peter -- I grew up in Minnesota, but right now I’m traveling the East Coast for a while before starting graduate school. The last Workaway project I got involved with was in 2017, and I'm excited to get involved again. My background combines creative and practical work:

Writing & Communication: I’ve worked as a professional writer and editor for nearly five years, producing content on science, law, and conservation.

Teaching & Mentoring: I’ve taught English, environmental science, and other subjects as a substitute teacher, and worked as a camp counselor teaching languages, sailing, and art. Creating welcoming, organized, and supportive environments is a personal focus. I'm going back to school in the next year to get a teaching license with one program or another.

Hands-on Projects: I’ve built greenhouses, gardened, and helped with repairs on farmsteads through Workaway, and I enjoy taking on DIY projects where I can apply and engage a different skillset from my editing and teaching work. I think with care and study, I can learn new skills, and I enjoy the challenge of tackling a new, difficult project.

Community & Service: I enjoy the chance to learn new skills through volunteering, and have participated in construction, historic preservation, ecological restoration and other endeavors.

I’m meticulous, reliable, and quick to learn new skills. My academic background is in English and biology, and I’m equally comfortable in creative, scientific, and practical settings.
