Hello! My name is Elle Gilkey and I am from Boulder, Colorado in the United States. I love being in the outdoors and doing activities such as hiking, biking, camping, swimming, exploring, and working with my mom in her garden. I love being around animals and have a dog and three cats at my home. I enjoy all animals and have previously worked with horses, sheep, pigs, chickens, and ducks, learning about their needs and how to make them comfortable. I can't wait to meet new people and enjoy being in new places and learning about new cultures. I appreciate working with children and have been a nanny for the past few years, I love learning from kids and figuring out what they enjoy and how to keep them happy. I am motivated to learn from my experiences and try out lots of new things while I am traveling. I am traveling to broaden my vision of the world and take a step outside of my hometown. I appreciate where I live because of all the amazing land, trails, and wildlife that it has to offer, I hope to find some of that where I will travel next. I am a hardworking person who learns quickly from those around me and is always willing to take on new tasks and perform them to the best of my ability. I cant wait to meet you, and join your Workaway!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have had a wide variety of jobs that have given me different skills throughout my life. I started as a babysitter and nanny which I have done for the past several years. This has given me good experience with children, taking them to school and different activities, helping them with homework, and working on creative projects such as baking and art. This has also helped me learn how to maintain a clean household, making beds, doing laundry, and cleaning all rooms of the house, making sure the parents come home to a clean organized environment. I have also volunteered on a local farm which gave me experience in animal care, such as feeding, cleaning, and building cages and coops. This also taught me about planting and harvesting vegetables, building enclosures and fencing, as well as learning how to take care of the organic land to maintain it and get the best crops from it. I have experience in retail stores through working with a small business, helping with social media, and promoting the business online. I have worked as a restaurant host as well, giving me good experience with customers, and learning how I can best help them, making them as comfortable as possible. This has also led me to come in contact with a variety of different individuals, helping broaden my experience with different types of people, and learning how to confront different type of customers to better help them be comfortable. Recently I have just finished a 3 month solo backpacking trip across Europe. During this time I volunteered on a small farm taking care of sheep and working on renovations. I was also able to learn to become more independent and build connections with lots of new people from all over the world!
