Hola Hola!

My name is Ella.

I'm an outgoing and open-minded Canadian currently travelling through Central and South America with the goal of learning spanish, surfing, salsa and connecting more with my spirituality. The past three months I spent in Central America and am excited to now be in Colombia until the end of March 2024.

I have a background in Nutrition, digital marketing, hospitality and am also a fitness instructor. I love all sports, especially ice hockey, skiing, surfing, climbing, soccer, beach volleyball and hiking. One of my favourite things to do is go on camping trips with friends and challenge myself in the outdoors. I really enjoy learning new skills and trying things I’ve never done before as well as meeting people from different cultures, this is a big focus of my travels.

Different things I am looking for in a volunteering:
- sustainable living, permaculture, yoga/spirituality, eco building and gardening
- being out in nature, surrounded by like minded people
- learning more about cooking and nutrition, specifically about traditional south american cuisine as well as Vegan/vegetarian cooking.
- volunteering with children as I am planning on becoming a teacher when I return to Canada and have a passion for this.
- practicing spanish, my spanish level is intermediate

I've completed a handful of workaways in Spain and Portugal, living with families and helping with the kids, teaching english and working at a surf camp. I'm excited for a new and different experience here in South America!

Mi nombre es ella.

Soy un canadiense extrovertido y de mente abierta que actualmente viaja por Centro y Sudamérica con el objetivo de aprender español, surfear, salsa y conectarme más con mi espiritualidad. Los últimos tres meses los pasé en Centroamérica y estoy emocionado de estar ahora en Colombia hasta finales de marzo de 2024.

Tengo experiencia en Nutrición, marketing digital, hotelería y también soy instructora de fitness. Me encantan todos los deportes, especialmente el hockey sobre hielo, el esquí, el surf, la escalada, el fútbol, ​​el voleibol de playa y el senderismo. Una de mis actividades favoritas es ir de campamento con amigos y desafiarme al aire libre. Realmente disfruto aprender nuevas habilidades y probar cosas que nunca antes había hecho, además de conocer gente de diferentes culturas; este es un gran objetivo de mis viajes.

Diferentes cosas que busco en un voluntariado:
- vida sostenible, permacultura, yoga/espiritualidad, construcción ecológica y jardinería
- estar en la naturaleza, rodeado de personas con ideas afines
- aprender más sobre cocina y nutrición, específicamente sobre la cocina tradicional sudamericana, así como sobre la cocina vegana/vegetariana.
- ser voluntaria con niños porque planeo convertirme en maestra cuando regrese a Canadá y me apasiona esto.
- practicando español, mi nivel de español es intermedio

He completado varios workaways en España y Portugal, viviendo con familias y ayudando con los niños, enseñando inglés y trabajando en un campamento de surf. ¡Estoy emocionado por una experiencia nueva y diferente aquí en Sudamérica!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I’ve worked a number of different jobs in the past and have found that I’m a generally quick learner to new skills or situations. More specifically, I have experience with children teaching skiing, swimming and English and really enjoyed this. In the past I’ve also worked at a hotel and different restaurants so have good customer service skills. I’m quite out going and really enjoy working with others but can also work on tasks on my own as I’m quite independent.
