Hello everyone!
My name is Elena, I am 20 years old and am from Germany. I am a medical student and discovered my love for traveling after doing an interrail trip and meeting so many amazing humans all over Europe. My love expanded when I discovered workaway and was able to see bits of Canada and the US during my 6 month work&travel trip through being hosted by the most incredible people.
My favorite activites to do are running, cooking, hiking and going out for a drink or two:) I loved exploring new cities but being in nature gives me a sense of peace. I am very open minded and love to meet new people and listen to their stories. I think there is so much wisdom in other peoples' perspectives of life. So, don´t hesitate and tell me about yourself and your experiences:)
Another hobby of mine is learning new languages. My most recent language project is Spanish which is why I will visit Guatemala in February and March. I really want to bring my Spanish to the next level and dig into the culture of Latin America and especially Guatemala.

I love to learn the origin and rules of different languages while teaching the ones I speak to others. I think it is very interesting to be able to understand what people from foreign countries talk about.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
I teached children maths and french after school for about two years. I tried my best to influence them in a good way and enable them to understand (mathematical) coherences by themselves. I can connect with children and have fun with them while knowing my responsibility for them.
During the pandemic I learned to cook. I love being in the kitchen and experimentig with different ingredients. Especially the vegan cuisine interests me as I am aware of the consequences of intensive animal husbandry for the environement, the animals and ourselves but I am open to food from everywhere as I truly believe that food can bring people together and teach them a lot about each other.
I am currently working at a restaurant. In the summertime there is an outdoor space where I serve people. During winter, I help with running events such as parties, birthdays or carnival events with 200-400 people. I like working in a team and with people. It brings me joy to know that my work makes people enjoy their evening and have a good time.
Furthermore, I have previously helped at a farmer's market selling vegetables. It wasn't easy getting up at 6:30 on saturday morning's but it taught me a lot about discipline (and that I'm very tired after spending 4 hours outside in the early morning). I liked selling vegetables and knowing their origin while forming connections to the usual customers.

I played tennis and field hockey both for about five years.
Now, I play badminton and I like to go for runs and do strength training.
I am able to play piano and saxophone.
Apart from the things I am already able to do, I love to learn new things and am open to everything. I think the process of practicing a new skill is so intersting and it is certainly an incredible feeling of mastering things!
