Description

My name is Despoina (pronounced without the o, so its Despina). I am 25 years old and I come from Greece but the last three years I have lived in Sweden, France, Austria and currently in Ireland doing all sorts of things from Erasmus semesters, volunteering work to seasonal jobs!
I have a bachelor's in Psychology and right now I am taking a pause from studying to explore the world and find my own place (or places!) in it. However, I do aspire to attend a masters and work on the clinical field.
As you might have guessed from the paragraphs above, I like traveling, finding my self in different surroundings and integrating in different cultures. I believe that through traveling we truly challenge ourselves to be open to all various of things, meet people with different norms and lifestyle, see incredible places, taste food and reveal different aspects of our personalities.
So far I have traveled only throughout Europe and recently I decided to do a long trip to South East Asia and postpone my master plan making my mum quite mad about it (oops)! I felt that I had to stop ticking all the societal boxes and start fulfilling my own boxes to joy.
Ever since I was a teenager I had been keen on volunteering in projects concerning kids, less privileged groups and animals. I have spent 9 months in South France working on informal education in a school and creating seminars about solidarity issues, and experience that was eye opening to me and led me to reconsider to life path. Moreover, I am interested in animal welfare and the protection of the environment. If you don t find me traveling, you will probably find me dogsitting.
To cut a long story short, I believe that I am a person that finds joy in giving and sharing since like that you can have a huge impact on someone's life and inevitably they also have in yours.
After all, volunteering has bidirectional outcomes. At the end of the day, its all about giving and receiving whether this concerns another human, an animal or the environment. That was all folks!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

As I mentioned in the profile description, I have a bachelors in Psychology and I have participated in and ESC volunteering in France concerning informal education and solidarity themes. That being said, I am accustomed to creating activities and seminars concerning social issues, mental health awareness and all that in a fun and alternative way than a simple lecture or presentation.
Moreover, I have experience in taking care of children since I have worked in a summer camp as a team leader and also I was occupied in a center of creative day care for refugees. Therefore, I could work efficiently with kids.
Last but not least, I was employed in the touristic industry for quite some time doing the work of a housekeeper to a waitress. I can clean, serve, cook and take care of a household, if needed!
