Hi there :)

I am David, from Portugal . I'm traveling around this year and would love to help you with your farms or projects.
What motivates me is the experience of going to someplace new, meeting all kinds of people, and learn all about other cultures.

I sometimes can be energetic, easy-going, and tend to learn fast. I am happy to help with gardening, cleaning, taking care of animals (I love animals!!), and other help around house or guests.
I am are very respectful of your space and I try to keep everything clean.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Extensive volunteer experience, including:
- animal care: sheep farm (Iceland), horse stables (Lithuania) and a mini zoo with all kinds of animals (Norway for 4 months).
- hospitality: cleaning and reception in a hostel in Denmark and a Swedish retreat center
- construction: building project in Finland.
-farms - some gardening in Italy, Croatia, Greece, Spain and Hungary!

...and I am also looking forward to other diverse experience!
I worked at McDonald's for about 1 year and 9 months, so I have a little bit of experience in kitchen, as well as cleaning. Open minded person who would do their best to help the hosts with everything possible!

As of now I've done 11 diferent volunteers!

In my free time I normally use my smartphone to listen to some music, watch some series, read some stuff.
I can also go for a walk or talk with some other volunteer I met and learn about other interesting things, like different cultures or languages!

David and partner came and happily finished all the jobs needed, unfortuently David was sick for a few of those days but still continued to help with jobs parts of each day.so it is hard to rate him .

In mid July 2026, we volunteered at Penelopy’s place for two weeks, and it was hands-down one of the best experiences we’ve ever had! We think it was a truly great cultural exchange.
Penelopy literally treated us like family. She has an absolutely adorable personality, is incredibly open-minded, and we deeply enjoyed all our conversations with her … read more :) Her sons were also lovely, wonderful people to be around, you can truly tell they were raised incredibly well.
Truth be told, we had one bad day during our stay, but the tasks we did were incredibly interesting and rewarding. Her garden was absolutely beautiful to look at, and we spent our time harvesting fresh vegetables including some unique types of tomatoes we had never even seen before! We also dug up potatoes, watered the plants, and cleared out weeds near the trees. We did so much oregano processing that I think we became total pros at it! She even had an amazing technique with her chickens where she moved them to a new spot every three days, and it was so fascinating to see how that worked! The outside of her house was great too, and we happily spent most of our time out there.
There were also some really cute cats running around the property that were nice to be around. They could be a bit annoying sometimes, and you have to be careful with the blind one because it will bite you if you're not careful ahahah, but they are still adorable!
The food was another massive highlight. Penelopy cooked amazing, typical Greek meals for us every single day. We usually ate lunch a little later in the afternoon, around 15:00-17.00, but we quickly got used to the rhythm, and she generously gave us the leftovers to enjoy for dinner. We got to enjoy fresh Greek salads made with vegetables straight from the garden we helped harvest, and honestly, we still miss that food every day! While she made breakfast for us the first two mornings, we took care of it ourselves after that; she gave us total freedom to eat whatever we wanted from the house, and the available food was really high quality and good!
She was also incredibly helpful with navigating the area, explaining the local transportation system to us since none of the buses or routes show up on Google Maps. Because it was really hot during our stay, we didn't end up exploring the surrounding towns too much, but the beach and the overall vibes around the place were still absolutely fantastic.
Our accommodations were excellent. We slept in a tent that was really comfortable, and because it zipped completely closed, there were absolutely no mosquitoes, allowing us to sleep peacefully every night.
The location is pure paradise. The property is less than a one-minute walk to the beach, which is easily one of the best—if not the absolute best beach we have ever been to. The water was perfect and filled with fish, and it had a unique, underwater mountain where you could still touch the bottom with your feet even further out from the shore. The beach is lined with natural trees, meaning you don't even need an umbrella to enjoy the shade, making it the perfect place to relax. To top it all off, the sunsets there were absolutely breathtaking, seriously some of the best we've ever seen!
We loved every single moment of our stay and highly recommend volunteering with Penelopy!

In May 2026, I spent a full month volunteering at Regina’s farm.
She is originally from Germany but has been running her farm in Lithuania for a long time, and it is really impressive how well it has been holding up and maintained over the years.
The setup here is very independent and quiet. The schedule I worked was 3 hours and a half per day, … read more split between the morning and the evening, 7 days a week. I later heard from other volunteers that there was an option to work 5 hours a day with 2 days off, but since the host never mentioned this to me directly and I never said anything, I stuck with the 3 hour routine. Because the tasks are split throughout the day and the nearest bus station is about a 40? minute walk away, it can feel quite isolating, though the host does generously allow volunteers to use the car to get around as long as you pay for your own gas, and there were also 2 bikes available for us to use.
The highlight of the experience was definitely the horses.
They were really well-treated, had a lot of space, and never looked unhappy at all, and it was great seeing them interact with us. It was even fascinating to watch the equine dentist visit one day! Learning how to handle the horse chores correctly and fast was a lot of hard work, but it was rewarding in the end when they came up to me to be petted.
Besides the horse care, we also did other tasks like moving a lot of wood to prepare it for the winter.
The living conditions were also really good and comfortable. We had our own private rooms, plenty of space in the fridge, and the Wi-Fi worked great. On top of that, the surrounding nature was beautiful to look at!
When I first arrived, Regina was away on vacation, which I hadn't been told about in advance. Instead, an older german volunteer who spoke very limited English called me and came to pick me up, which was really confusing and stressful at the start.
Throughout the month, there was almost no social interaction and Regina and I barely spoke. Because day-to-day communication was so limited, feedback on mistakes could sometimes feel a bit abrupt or tense, but it was just part of the learning process!
However, she was always reliable with our financial agreement and paid me the 40 euros weekly as promised. Because she paid us, we had to cook our own food, but she let us use the car once a week to go to the supermarket.
At the very end of my stay, she came over to say goodbye and thank me for everything, which I really appreciated.
The volunteer numbers shifted during my stay; we were 3 volunteers when I arrived, and we were up to 6 by the time I left.
Besides the other volunteers, there was rarely anyone else around the property except for some Lithuanian horse owners who came by once in a while; they were unfortunately a bit rude and completely ignored me when I said hello.
The truth is that there wasn’t really any cultural exchange here, and it felt much more like a standard job. I would recommend this place if you want independent farm work with horses and don't mind a very quiet, solitary environment ( this will entirely depend on the group of volunteers who are there with you), but I definitely suggest clearly confirming your schedule options before you arrive.
