Hey! I am Cleo, a 25 year old Belgian taking some time off for slow travels. I left Belgium in October 2023 after I graduated university. I have been traveling by sailboat for 5 months from the north of Spain to the Carribean. For me this was a great way of exploring the concept of "slow traveling", meeting the most heart warming people and getting in touch with cultures, food and music.

In 2024 I spent 6 months in South America both exploring and doing workaways, diversing from organic farms, ecolodges, teaching english in primary school, helping with refit job..

I am open to both ecological/ agricultural-centered places to take a step back to nature or do something culturally with people. About me, I love outdoor activities as hiking, gardening and permaculturem climbing, swimming, cooking, playing guitar/piano. Most of all love to connect with anyone in this backpacking community :-) it's so inspiring

In my hometown Ghent, I love engaging in the numerous non profit initiatives that bring together people and let them participate in their local neighbourhoods, while having a positive impact on the local environment. Projects such as eldercare, organizations for children with mental disabilities, food banks...
I have a master's degree in 'Public administration and Politics' (2022), Business 'Adminidstration and Economics' (2023) and 'Marketing and Management' (2023) at the University of Ghent and University of Berlin. I have experience with organizational work as I used to work for the main Belgian Refugee NGO 'Vluchtelingenwerk Vlaanderen' (2021).

Beside that I'm in hospitality, have been a bartender/waitress in a brewery as a student and in 2026 I worked in a swiss mountain stube as well. Before that I had several jobs in a butchery, bakery, hotel, restaurant and different bars. I am a quick learner and I am not afraid for physical work, if it means I probably have to adapt. I'm fluent in English, Dutch, French and German (Schwiizerdütsch chunnt langsam au ;) and Spanish;

I love learning new languages when I arrive to a new place as it is the best way to connect to people. Spanish is now on my list to improvement! I would also love to teach people English, French, Dutch, German... I have experience with teaching as I used to meet up with 'travel buddy's' with the goal of speaking eachothers language and improve them.

I am good in organizational work. I also work as a bartender/waitress in a brewery. Before that I had several jobs in a butchery, bakery, hotel, restaurant and different bars. And on the sailboats, I did refit jobs such as polishing, fiberglass, painting, electricity. I am a quick learner and I am not afraid for physical work, if it means I probably have to adapt. I speak English (C1), Dutch (mother language), German (B2), French (B2). I am currently learning Spanish. Although I would still consider it basic, it is improving every day and I would be very happy to learn more.
