Description

Open to long-term exchanges or paid jobs, I don't mind relocating for interesting opportunities. I'm very down-to-earth, practical and reliable.
I got professional background in tourism management, permaculture training (PDC) and farming experience.

I live on Madeira island, I've been working with some local projects involving farming & gardening, mushroom farming, tourism, hosting events.

I've completed my Permaculture training (PDC & internship) in the Azores islands, in 2020, and I've helped organize and host some permaculture courses afterwards.

I love reading, studying nature, foraging- especially for mushrooms. I'd love to learn more about soil and various ecosystems. I also like playing chess, dancing and living a simple life. I'm still looking for my tribe.

Diana is very reliable has excellent self management skills and is a hard worker. She is also very efficient at using her permaculture knowledge and applying it in practice. She is very good at gardening, working with animals as well as working with children.

Diana helped us a big deal creating new agroferest lines and raised beds on our farm. She also helped moving the animals around with electric fencing. She is easy to communicate and a lovely person to be with, It was a pleasure to have her here with us.

This project is all about making regeneration and resilience happening in Azores and in my life.
I am sorry Diana could not understand that. She asked me to come for 3 months as a volunteer and I explained that I needed someone for helping in the intership that was happening during October. All the tasks that are expected are clear in my profile … read more in workaway.Plus I explained what would be her tasks if she was a volunteer during the intership.
This event is very demanding because we have around 20 persons sharing the same space and resources during a all month. I was the chef cooking for all these persons, attending to their expectations and needs. Luckily no one was infected with covid 19 and everyone could enjoy the fun permaculture intership with my amazing friend permaculturist Helder Valente. Some of them were sleeping inside my house. I was also doing general maintenance because my maid, who used to come once a week to help me with general maintenance, refused do come because I was hosting around 15 foreigners during the all month and she was afraid of geting sick with covid19. I had 3 volunteers, including Diana, helping and attending to the courses. Their tasks were very clear and were even printed and put in the wall. They attended to the permaculture Intership at a reduced fee and helped in cooking and general maintenance . These tasks Included preparing breakfast, helping to prepare lunch, dinner and coffee breaks.
From my appreciation to Diana’s performance I found somehow dificult to work with her.
Despite being polite and educated she needs to improve her focus in asked tasks.
Often we had misplaced and lost objects, specially in the cooking areas that would make me loose time looking for them in a miidle of a task such as preparing a meal.
Needs to improve also flexibility and multifunctionality. Often she would avoid or resist to tasks that she was not confortable with, not doing or refusing them.
Dificulty in following operational directions, resisting to accept them and questioning a lot when she could not understand the why or the purpose of it.
I recognize that I was not at my best performance but I expected some understanding given the situation of me accepting to organize a permaculture intership for a month, with a bunch of people from around the world, during a pandemic, working more then 12 hours a day non stop, cooking amazing food, being patient with all the inexperient and careless actions.
I hope she can improve ter skills to continue her growth as an individual, taking advantage of all the challenges she faces in life.
