Hi! We're Claire and Oli - lovely to meet you :)

We're a Australian couple who have left our normal lives and 9-to-5 jobs to travel the world for a year. We're both adventurous and have been keen to explore the world in a way that feels more like a lifestyle than just a vacation.

Claire loves cycling and pilates, and is great at cooking up a meal from random ingredients at hand. She is happiest while outside and gets great satisfaction from gardening. Oli is very handy and intuitive at fixing all sorts of things. He is also familiar with solar panels and power systems from his 9-to-5 life, and can also assist with a range of website and online work. We are both flexible to contribute our skills to any kind of work that needs to be done. Also looking forward to learning from our hosts and gaining new skills and memories that we can take on with us. We are both very clean and respectful of shared spaces and house rules.

We have both lived overseas while studying abroad, Claire in France and Oli in the USA, and have also travelled across Europe and Asia. I think we would both agree that one of our favourite countries to travel to has been China. Over the two months in China we ate the most incredible food and hiked through some of the most stunning national parks.

We have just been travelling in the United States for five months and hiked the Appalachian Trail (would highly recommend it!). We met some amazing people on the trail from all around the world and made some lifelong friends. The locals along the way also showed us the most incredible generosity and hospitality, sharing their homes and food and time with us. It definitely reinforced that we prefer to travel slowly (walking is definitely the slowest mode of transport!), and to travel off the beaten path to see a country from a different angle than just the big ticket tourist attractions.

Through Workaway, we'd love to slow down our travel to really immerse in the local way of life and meet some some wonderful people along the way.

  Claire is vegetarian but is easygoing about meat being cooked alongside vego meals. Orlando eats absolutely everything, but also enjoys vegetarian cooking.
