  • Description

My name is Bronté, I'm 28 years old and from Aotearoa New Zealand. My partner Will and I are currently on sabbatical, and recently finished working as hosts of a catered Chalet in Morzine, France for the winter season. We are looking forward to spending the rest of 2025 travelling and volunteering around Europe, and we are particularly interested in spending more time in France, visiting regions we have yet to visit.

I have an architecture degree, and previously worked for 5 years as a graduate architectural and urban designer in New Zealand. While traveling, I am particularly interested in seeing the environments of new cities, towns, and villages, and learning about the history and architecture of the place. I also love to capture places through photography.

My hobbies and passions include skiing, creating art, film photography, swimming, running, hiking, spending time outdoors, and looking after my indoor plants. Recently, I have been enjoying baking, which has been part of my job over the winter.

Will (30) has an Engineering degree, and has been working as a Facade Engineer for 9 years. He is a big outdoor and water-sport enthusiast, with a passion for sailing, wingfoiling and surfing, as well as mountain biking, hiking and skiing. He loves DIY projects, and has owned a 9m sailing yacht which he has fully refurbished with his friend and Dad.

As we both love the outdoors, we have a passion for caring for the environment, trying to reduce our impact as best we can. We are keen cyclists, aiming to replace car journeys with cycling everywhere we can, and we are both vegetarian, for environmental and animal welfare reasons.

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Will and I have both spent the past four months hosting a catered chalet in Morzine, France. This involved preparing a full cooked breakfast, baking afternoon tea cakes, and cooking a four-course dinner for up to 12 guests each day. We were also in charge of daily housekeeping, and doing a full chalet deep-clean and changeover every week.

Prior to Chalet Hosting, I was working as an Intermediate Architectural and Urban Designer, where I developed skills such as design thinking, visual communication, problem-solving and team collaboration. Specific creative skills I have include sketching, digital illustration, and designing using the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator). I also have technical skills related to drafting using CAD programs. While at University, I was an academic support worker for students with learning disabilities, and a tutor for first year students in architecture.

Prior to Chalet Hosting, Will was working as a Senior Facade Engineer, carrying out structural and weathertightness design for building facades. His role involved collaborating with architects and builders to provide bespoke engineering design and construciton monitoring, which required a high level of responsibility managing large scale projects and client relationships.
In his spare time, Will is a passionate sailor, and has rebuilt a 9m sailing yacht with his friend and dad. He has a lot of DIY experience and is practical and hardworking. Will has also previously worked as a maths and physics tutor, teaching students from years 9 - 13, and has worked as a sailing coach for his local yacht club.
