Hi! I'm Ben, 25 years old and from The Netherlands.

I'm passionate about traveling and am super excited to use Workaway to connect with people from all over the world, learn about different cultures, and explore new places! After traveling to France and Germany this year, I decided to take a gap year to see more of the world and use Workaway to broaden my horizons.

Growing up, my family and I spent a lot of time in France for summer vacations. I’ve also visited England, Luxembourg, Germany, and Belgium, and I’ve always loved meeting new people while traveling. Staying in touch with those people over the years has been one of the best parts of my trips! The idea of meeting new people from all around the world through Workaway is something I’m really excited about.

I'm a creative guy who loves playing guitar, doing photography, and staying active with fitness. I’m also a huge animal lover! At home, we have 3 dogs and 6 chickens, and I’ve had cats in the past too. I’m friendly, hard-working, and definitely not afraid to get my hands dirty. Over the last few years, I’ve helped my parents completely renovate our house, and my dad and I redesigned our garden from scratch. All that hands-on work has given me tons of practical experience that I’m excited to put to use.

I’m also super comfortable working alone and can easily spend a whole day doing tasks by myself. But when the time comes, I love being part of a team too! I’m always up for working together and getting things done.

I'm really looking forward to the new experiences, skills, and connections I’ll gain through Workaway. Can’t wait to see what’s next!

I would love to improve my French, which i speak very little of, or learn Spanish completely from scratch. I'm fluent in Dutch (first language) and English and i'm pretty advanced in German so i could teach these languages

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

9 years ago i moved into a new house with my parents and we've been busy renovating ever since, taking up multiple projects at the same time. We also have a very big garden which always needs a lot of work and maintenance so i've gained a lot of work experience in many different fields and i'm definitely not afraid to get my hands dirty.

Here's some of the practical things i have experience in:
- Painting
- Garden work
- Woodworking
- Demolishing walls
- Plastering walls
- Maintaining garden and crops
- Working with heavy tools

I have also worked a ton of jobs in a lot of different fields here in The Netherlands which made me gain a lot of experience in customer service, hospitality and administration works.

I'm also a big animal lover. Over the years i've had 6 dogs and 4 cats. I come from the "countryside" of the Netherlands so i have been on farms a lot and gained some experience working with farm animals like goats, sheep and cows.

I have a very big passion for anything music and guitar related. I have a big vinyl collection and love a lot of music from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. I'm a guitar player myself and have performed a lot in different bands over the last couple of years. I mainly play Dire Straits, Eric Clapton and Fleetwood Mac (the early formation with Peter Green) but i can also play a slow fingerpicking song on an acoustic next by the campfire

I also love photography and take a camera with me everywhere i go (i have about 15 of them lol) I have documented all my trips the last few years so i will definitely be taking my camera with me on my Workaway adventures

Hiking and being out in nature also is one of my hobbies. I have 3 dogs so naturally i'm out walking them everyday. I try to discover a new spot everytime and take the dogs in the car to have a nice, long walk. I've also hiked a lot in the hills of the French Provence and Germany.
