I am currently based in the UK, studying at Oxford University. However, this summer I plan to travel in Quebec in order to improve my French language skills and meet people from a new culture!

Description

I am a keen linguist studying French and Italian at Oxford university. My love for travel stems from a desire to learn how different people live and understand the world, in the hope of expanding my own perspective. I value making connections with people which can teach me something new and unexpected about a place, culture, or life in general.

This summer I am hoping to spend time in Quebec, Canada, discovering everything the province has to offer from learning about Quebecois culture to exploring its natural landscapes. In doing this I would like to develop my French comprehension and speaking through everyday communication! I have only visited English speaking regions of Canada before and I would love to widen my experiences in this beautiful country.

I am a naturally optimistic person and I have a constant desire to work on myself and my relationship with the world. I love being outdoors in nature, but I also love exploring cities; both give me the sense of freedom I seek. As an introvert, I do need some alone time to reflect, but I love meeting new people and building new relationships. I also love taking care of children and finding joy in everything I can!

I am also a lover of all animals, especially cats. I adore my cat, Monty!

I would especially like to focus on improving my French communication! I am around a level B2 at the moment and seeking to become much more fluent by immersing myself in the language. I also study Italian and would love to develop my fluency in this language as well.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I speak French to B2 level, and Italian to A2. I read novels in French, Italian, and English. I am hoping to work on these languages while I travel!

I have worked casually in childcare babysitting children aged from less than 1 year old to young teenagers. I have also tutored GCSE students ready for their exams.

Since I was 15, I have worked at my local rugby club. There, I prepare and serve food in both formal and informal settings, I clean kitchens and dining areas, I build relationships with customers and lead teams of staff to organise formal dinners and catering for youth rugby tournaments.

I am an RYA Watch Leader with the Rona Sailing Project, based in Southampton. With them, I have sailed in many 'Sail Training Voyages', as well as the Aberdeen->Kristiansand leg of the 2025 Tall Ships Race, and the Classic Channel Regatta in 2024. I have my Competent Crew award as well as my watch leader training.

I also have digital skills, having worked as a freelance content creator for Bloomsbury - I have created several digital guides to their online platform as well as done market research for a senior publisher. I also learned to proofread documents while completing a short internship with OnlyToday publishing house in Berlin.

I like to read (although most of my time spent reading is now dedicated to my extensive university reading lists), I love playing card games and all kinds of board games, and I enjoy cooking and discovering new recipes.

I have always liked surrounding myself with nature, hiking and cycling in beautiful places and seeing new wildlife.
