Description
Together for 20 years, best friends and working collegues, proud mum and dad to three great boys, nature lovers, who cherish their freedom and are living their dreams .... that´s all us! 😊

Being enterpreneurs enables us to take few months off each year and travel, which we enjoy so much! And being able to help a bit, meet interesting people and get to know diferent cultures, that´s the "icing on the cake".

We are happy to help with any meaningful work inside or out and are not afraid to get our hands dirty.

Our elder sons (the twins) are already independent and busy studying at the moment, so they can travel just during school holidays. Fir the rest of the year it would be only me (Zuzana), my husband Jan and our youngest son Martin (2014) comming and helping 🙂

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT US:

-- at home, in Czech republic, we run a nice family business - we create and organise educational and leisure time activities like sporting events, workshops, hikes and treasure hunts for both school groups and tourists.

-- since our twentees, we have been round various HOSPITALITY ☕🍻🥘 related businesses and have run our own bed and breakfast 🏘 for the past 9 years.
We are always keen to see some new ways and share ideas 👍This is the work we really enjoy!

--- all of us are keen gardeners 👨‍🌾 (and are doing our best in growing and preserving our own vegetables and fruits 🍒🍎🍐🍓🫐🥒🥕🥔🧅🧄🌽) - we can help with yours too! 😊

-- we are a sporty family 😊 and our son Martin loves especialy footbal and skiing (both crosscountry and downhill)

--- we all like hiking, love to play board games and enjoy a book by the fireplace

--- since 2016, we have been homeschooling 🧑‍🏫our kids and it works very well just with 1-2 hours during the day

--- we love traveling, meeting new people and exploring different cultures - so far, we have been round Europe, worked in Bermuda, spent few months in Asia and northern Africa and couple of months in New Zealand 😊 and there is still so much to see!

--- we have been on a few workaways already - working on a permaculture farm in Thailand, harvesting and preserving tons of veggies and fruits in Switzerland, gardening, tree trimming, painting and dogwalking in Portugal, helping with house renovations in french Provence, clearing a beautiful land in Italy, destilling " Schnaps" from turnips in Austria and working on a farm in Norway ... and we liked it all very much.

So excited where we end up this time....! 😊

PS: we have a little, friendly, clean dog Ohlson, who would be traveling with us

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
At home, we have a big garden and an old house, which we just recently renovated (and gained some very practical skills 😉). So if there is any maintenance that needs to be done, like painting, cleaning, lawn moving, wood cutting, tree prunning, weeding... you name it... that's what we can do!

We are pretty good organisers and have some knowledge of marketing and project management, if that could be of any use to someone 😉

The same if it comes to hotel/restaurant business - we can help with customer service (reception, bar, restaurant) but also with housekeeping (we have been doing all of it for years 🙂 while renting out our cottage in the mountains).

We enjoy very much also the outside work. We can help you with the garden, with fruit picking 🍒🍇🍏 or any other harvest but also with preserving, doing own jams and marmelades and with pickles🥫.

We love working along other people as part of a team but are fine to work on our own too (if it´s not ONLY on our own, as we like to meet people on our travels and to share experience).

And Martin👦, our son, is more than happy to join in any activity and help too, the same as he is used to do when we are at home.

3 weeks with Maritta, her family and other workawayers were terrific! The friendly atmosphere, great local cuisine, beautiful nature around and the "oh happeln" experience itself was something we will never forget. Thank you for making us feel like at home! We can definitely recommend!

The two weeks at Yvonne's were just great. The house is big, offering enough privacy and some of the best views we have ever seen... and the village itself is very nice too, with the old houses in the centre, beautiful cave church on the hill and friendly and helpful neighbours. What an incredible family and team! Zuzana, Jan and their boys were top notch. We would not have been able to pack up the farm for the winter without them. What they accomplished in just 3.5 weeks far surpassed our hopes. For that, we are incredibly grateful.

Here is why Zuzana, Jan and their boys were so great:

1. Incredibly hard-working AND… read more "smart" working.
In just 3.5 weeks, Zuzana, Jan and their boys packed up our whole vegetable farm (20+ beds) - weeding, laying compost and fermented sheep poop, and leveling all our vegetable beds. They created hot tubs full of compost for next year, and they "saved" our dying strawberry plants, by creating fresh, new beds organized by vintage through daughter-snipping, and transplanting into fresh new beds they prepared. They harvested and preserved vegetables.

They accomplished all this because they knew how to self-organize and distribute and sequence tasks so that work was done the most efficient way possible. No micro-management needed whatsoever. In fact, they were pushing us to think bigger and more ambitious in order to maximize the value they could deliver - a great learning for me.

They were also incredibly hard-working. Much of the work they did was heavy and hard, but not once did they complain or slack off. Their energy, focus and self-reliance was unparalleled. My biggest regret from their time with us is me not finding more time to work along side them - to learn from them, to watch how they self-organize and to practice "keeping up" with their work pace. Their work ethic is top.

Further, the twins, while only 14, carried the weight of super high capacity adults. I was impressed. Meeting them and watching them collaborate gives me hope for the future. If my younger boys turn out just half as hard-working, mature and reliable as their boys, I will be a proud mama.

2. Pro-active
A surprise but much appreciated attribute was how pro-active the whole family was. Many times they jumped in or tackled a task that was not specifically asked of them, but they did it because they were engaged and simply saw it was needed (before even us at times). For example, they cleaned up our tool storage and jumped in on one of our farmers markets to help with customers, set-up and break-down. They simply saw we could use extra hands, which we did but hadn't planned for! Without them, the market would've been far more stressful and less productive.

3. Inspiring and Fun.
Aside from their incredible contributions, Zuzana, Jan and the boys are warm and wonderful people. They are living intentional and rich lives - exposing their boys to all kinds of living. They appreciate the beauty in the world (even after carrying wheel barral loads of manure for hours!) and are simply inspiring to work with and get to know. They are positive, open, warm, friendly, and real. Quite a gem of a family.

We hope they stay in touch and hope they know that their contribution this last month will be felt for years to come. They helped us raise our standards both of what to give and receive through workaway and how to run a farm. Forever grateful!

We enjoyed our workaway at Sandra's and Maurice's resort very much. We were pruning some trees, clearing bushes and did some painting and dogsitting too. None of it was difficult and as we had nice company in Maurice and other full time staff - Elizabeth and Maria, the time just flew by. Wonderful family! Did more clearing up in the garden in a few days that I could do all year! Kids are lovely, well mannered, and work hard with their parents. And the dogs adored them, always a plus! Calm and delightful family that I would recommend to anyone.
