  • Description

I grew up in Lithuania, where the 90's brought with them so much novelty and confusion that I still remember most of my childhood in an inexplicably bright fashion. Since 2014 I have moved homes and countries, graduated with Master's in Medical Anthropology, moved to Bristol, where I took on work with NGO in Community Engagement and mental health sector. I am also a self-taught photographer, a visual artist and documentation with a huge passion for cinema and filmmaking. My experience of life in different places, driven by an insatiable wish to learn and to connect is quite like a film in its own regard, yet I love to participate in projects where I can observe and learn from other people as we collaborate together. My wondrous mindset has recently gotten to develop a huge interest in sustainability, marine and forest ecology. At the moment I volunteer with the Marine Conservation Society in the UK, where I join them in seaweed search, beach clean and citizen science projects. I'm also a tech-savvy person, I've got website development and lots of graphic design skills. Writing, editing, communications are my strong assets, with a very keen eye for experience curation and event organisation.

Here on Workaway I want to contribute to art and eco projects, work in the nature and/or at sites that are slightly more remote from busy urban life. I love hiking, camping, cooking, gardening, learning languages and teaching alternative photography skills to people. I am always keen to create workshops, make art projects, and lead experiences together with other people.

The last time I used Workaway was back in 2019 with my partner, when we volunteered in Georgia before the start of the pandemic. I am coming back to this platform five years later, this time with a huge yearning to contribute to nature-based projects around ecology, art and sustainability, to which I can a range variety of skills, from general maintenance, to project management, to creative initiatives.

I'm looking forward to connecting with different hosts and exploring the ways we can work together soon:)

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Most of my exprience range in a variety of different fields, but let me list a few I am most excited about:

    - Film photography and filmmaking. From streets to portraits, to landscapes to abstracts, I love this visual medium. To me photography started as a hobby of experimenting with old cameras I found at my grandpa's house. Later it transformed into an everyday's occupation that has gotten me to discover every place I go to through a different, unexpected, creative perspective, or into more artistic experiments using light, body, pattern to form a unique and surreal unity as an end result.
Naturally my keenness on visuals pished me further an a few years ago I picked up a video camera. Since that moment I h a e shot and edited a short ethnographic film about home education, and a more metaphorical and visually enchanting biopic about a young artist woman's eagerness, inability and attempts to deal with sheer openness, honesty, shame and disturbing mental legacy coming down through the female line of her family. At the moment the film s being edited.

    - Management and youth work. Since few years ago I have worked in English summer schools in UK, first as an activities leader, later as a social programme manager, which I truly found my best at! I love organizing, planning, inspiring my colleagues and working closely with the staff team like one equal unit where I hold the duty and responsibility for the best performance and final result.

In terms of youth itself, I have worked with international kids with ages varying from 9 to 17. I have been creating activities, leading them, leading excursions and making sure everyone's needs are met social environment being held on mutual respect and friendliness.

    - Work with refugees in NGO's in UK and Berlin. These were places were I developed beautiful contacts with these people coming arduous ways to reach these places in Europe we take ao much for granted ourselves. From assissting them at English classes, to cooking together, to throwing Nowruz parties and dancing, to community dinners, I always had great experience and would love to work more professionally with these communities in my future.

    - Cultural anthropology. Observation, issue and behaviour analysis, ability to attentively listen, cultural translation and curiosity are the leading determinants in regards of this area which I also have studied as a bachelor's in University in UK. These studies helped me realize who I am more, and surely deepened my love and fascination about fellow human beings.

  • Autres infos...

I love chasing trains on a bike, hiking, generally walking evrywhere, am very keen to try more sports that I haven't tried before, like skiing, diving, paragliding, etc., but I guess taking over the air and and snow and the depth and the ocean will naturally happen once I have at least mastered an ability to stand and walk and cycle on different types of the ground:D
I love crafts! Making things can take me in so much, I can easily forget the passing of time once I start designing and putting together anything from an advent calendar, to a paintes photo, to a self binded book, to a developd photo, to a poem, or even the dishes in the washing basin.

I get easily excited about any interesting information. Will patiently listen to everyone's political and historical points of view, family history, ideas about our future or whether animals will be granted the same rights as humans. I am very curious and excited about many things and basically life itself. More generally though, I have quite a developed and keen sense of aesthetics. I value beauty and believe that there is a big relation between the exterior and interior of things, and harmony ia reached when both sides are equally taken care of.
