Hi! I’m Sofia, nice to meet you!

I’m from Italy and I’m a curious, energetic and easy-going person who loves travelling, meeting new people and getting involved in new experiences.

Over the years I’ve worked in quite a few different fields. I’ve worked in factories, in kitchens, in the film industry and I studied Photography, which is my main area of study. Having tried such different jobs made me realise that I really enjoy practical work, being active and learning new things rather than doing the same thing every day.

At some point I felt the need for a change and decided to leave Italy and spend some time abroad. I first came to Ireland, where I spent three months between two hostels in Wicklow and Donegal, working and volunteering. I really enjoyed the experience and, after that, I spent a couple of months in Sweden, working in a campsite and helping with housekeeping.

I ended up liking Ireland so much that I decided to come back. I’ve been living and working here since February and I’m currently working in a kitchen.

I’m a responsible and hardworking person, but I’m also very sociable and I generally find it easy to adapt to new environments. I don’t mind physical work, getting my hands dirty or helping out wherever needed.

One of the things I enjoy most about travelling is meeting people from different backgrounds and getting to know their way of life. I’m always happy to share experiences, have a chat, help out, and of course explore the area when there’s some free time!

I’m not afraid of trying new things and I’m always happy to learn something I’ve never done before. For me, Workaway is a great way to keep travelling, meet interesting people, learn new skills and experience places in a more genuine way than just being a tourist.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I’m a very practical and adaptable person: I learn quickly and I enjoy doing all kinds of hands-on tasks. I’m used to physical work and I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty! I like cleaning, organizing spaces, working with animals, gardening, helping in the kitchen, or doing whatever kind of work is needed.

Throughout my life I’ve had many different jobs, from working in laundries to the hospitality sector as a waitress and bartender, as well as office work. I also lived and worked in London for a year, which helped me become even more independent, flexible and open-minded.

I love photography and capturing meaningful moments, and recently I’ve developed a strong passion for analog photography — I often use disposable cameras while traveling. I also really enjoy cooking and creating recipes for the people I care about.

I’m reliable, positive and easy to work with, and I always try to bring good energy into the places and teams I’m part of.

My biggest passions are photography and music. I love spending hours in my darkroom developing and printing my own film, and I also love singing and playing the guitar. I’m a huge Bruce Springsteen fan — probably more than I should be! 🎸📷
