Hi! I'm Siebe, 23 years old and from the Netherlands.
I'm currently taking a gap year after finishing my bachelor's and want to use this time to travel, meet new people, and experience different ways of living. I’m planning to start my Workaway adventure in Norway and Sweden, first for a few weeks to try it out, but I’m flexible and open to staying longer.
I already have some experience living abroad. I spent half a year in Singapore during an exchange and another two months in Munich for a research internship. I've also been interrailing through Europe for the past three years, and I'll be doing that again for this trip. I really enjoy traveling this way, visiting international friends and discovering new places at my own pace.
I am a biologist, and I'm especially interested in ecology, evolution and conservation. At the same time, I really enjoy doing practical things - working outside, helping out, and getting my hands dirty. I enjoy cooking and I'm always happy to learn new skills.
In my free time I like being active, doing sports, playing board games, or just spending time with people. I also really enjoy hiking, especially in the mountains or wild nature.
I'd describe myself as easygoing, open-minded, and someone who's easy to live and work with. I speak Dutch and English fluently, a bit of German, and I'd love to learn some Norwegian or Swedish along the way.
I'm looking forward to meeting new people, helping out where I can, and having a great time together!

Dutch is my mother tongue, but I've spent the last three years of my life living and studying in English so I'm fluent in both. In high school I took both German and French, but I sadly forgot almost all my French... I tried learning Swedish for a while and I've taken a beginners course in Mandarin, but I wouldn't say I speak either.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
Most of my background is in science, so I’m used to working carefully, thinking things through, and following instructions. But outside of that, I actually really enjoy more practical, hands-on work.
I’m not a professional in things like construction or farming, but I’m definitely not afraid to get my hands dirty. I have experience with painting, some woodworking, and I've helped construct our home kitchen from scratch. Garden work, helping outside, basic maintenance, or just doing whatever needs to be done around the house, I’m happy to help and learn along the way!
I also enjoy cooking and can easily help out in the kitchen. From living abroad and traveling, I’m used to taking care of myself and sharing spaces with others, so I’d say I’m quite independent, tidy, and adaptable.
In terms of people skills, I’m easygoing and comfortable in different environments. I have experience working with kids through my job in a science museum, where I guide children of all ages and give workshops. But I get along well with people of all ages and I’m always willing to help where needed.
Overall, I’d say my biggest “skill” is that I’m motivated, reliable, and quick to pick up new things. I’m not afraid of trying something new and I actually enjoy learning as I go.

A bit more about me, I really enjoy the simple things in life. I like being outdoors, going for hikes, or just spending time in nature. Especially being in the mountains or more remote places is something I really appreciate.
Although I see myself as an introvert, I’m also quite a social person. I enjoy spending time with others, whether that’s having a good conversation, cooking together, or playing board games in the evening. I’m always up for learning new games, but I also enjoy classics.
I like staying active and enjoy all kinds of sports, but I’m not too serious about it, for me it’s mostly about having fun and being outside.
Since I’ll be traveling with my Interrail ticket, I’m quite flexible and enjoy a bit of spontaneity as well.
Overall, I’m just looking forward to meeting new people, sharing experiences, and making the most out of this time!
