Description

Hi! I am Shuntaro, currently studying at a university in Japan.

I spent most of 2025 travelling New Zealand using Workaway and loved the idea of the platform, sharing and exchanging various cultures.

My interests include outdoor activities, traveling , trying new cuisine, seeing new people, and learning about different cultures. I am happy to tackle any outdoor tasks and also share my food if the ingredients are available.

My plan for summer 2026 is to travel Europe for a short period of time and I am hoping to gain another Workaway experience.

I'm looking forward to seeing wonderful hosts and Workawayers, learning from them, and sharing my experience with them.

I can cook you simple Japanese meals (if the ingredients are available), teach you Japanese ( my native language). I worked for a gardening company for three months in 2025 (in NZ), so I have basic gardening skills.

Adam and Fran are both incredibly kind and welcoming. I enjoyed working in their garden and on the farm, and I hope the bananas and sugarcanes we planted will thrive in the future.

Shuntaro stayed with us for 10 days and we really enjoyed his company. He was happy to do any task asked of him which included digging up and replanting banana palms and sugar cane, clearing around plants and digging a path. I had an amazing three weeks with Dale and John in Makarau. They are both kind and easy going people, who welcomed me like a family member and invited me to join their family events.

My tasks involved protecting plants on the bank, feeding chickens, and cleaning the house, all of which were manageable.

Shun is a delightful helpful young man to have around he was happy to tackle any task and was careful and respectful at all times
He stayed for 3 weeks and helped with light building tasks, chicken care, weeding, waterblasting, bush track clearing and house work on rainy days

I stayed with Aaron and Rachel for four weeks and helped them with various exciting tasks, including building fences, planting trees and feeding cows. They also taught me how to solve the 4x4 and 5x5 Rubik's cube, which I really enjoyed.

The cabin I stayed in was comfortable and the view of Mount Taranaki from their place was stunning.

Shuntaro was a very valuable member of our Workaway team during the five weeks he was with us on our orchard. He was quite happy to climb ladders and trees to achieve the results we were looking for, getting rid of dead wood and creepers from the many places they were growing. Shuntaro is a bright, very quiet, very polite and respectful young man who has completed some good work in his 2+ week's stay at my property.
