Hi, I’m Serena, from Italy. I’ve spent many years working in my family’s agriturismo in Umbria, one of the greenest regions of Italy, where I grew up surrounded by nature and animals. Running a small family hospitality business means doing a bit of everything, so I’m used to welcoming people from all over the world, guest care, organization and digital work, but also gardening, agricultural and practical jobs. Being outdoors and close to nature has always been a natural part of my life.

At this point in my life, I’m trying to create more space to travel slowly and actually live in different places for a while rather than just visit them. Travel is one of my biggest passions and I love discovering new places and cultures, meeting people and experiencing different ways of living. At the same time, I’m developing my digital skills to build a job I can do remotely.

I’m curious and independent, but also quite a calm person. I enjoy my own space as much as sharing time with others, and I tend to try a bit of everything. I think I simply need a bit of “new” in my life from time to time. I enjoy dancing, being outdoors, doing creative things and working with my hands, especially when I get the chance to learn how to make or do something new.

When I travel, I somehow feel at home everywhere. That’s probably why I’m here: I like sharing everyday life, feeling useful and becoming part of a place for a while.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

HOSPITALITY & GUEST CARE
Many years of experience in my family’s agriturismo: welcoming guests, answering emails and requests, preparing quotes and bookings, helping guests during their stay and taking care of the everyday organization of a small hospitality business.

DIGITAL, COMMUNICATION & ORGANIZATION
I have some experience with digital communication, website and email copy, social media planning and basic digital strategy, both for my family’s business and other projects. I especially enjoy organizing information, improving communication and helping things run smoothly behind the scenes. I’ve also helped with the organization and logistics of events.

GARDENING, AGRICULTURE & PERMACULTURE
I’m used to country life and agricultural work: vegetable gardening, composting, harvesting and general outdoor jobs. I’m interested in permaculture and I like experimenting with its principles where I live and work.

NATURE & ANIMALS
I’m used to having animals around me every day, including cats, dogs, chickens and sheep. I’ve also had experience with dog sitting and I really enjoy taking care of animals.

PRACTICAL, DIY & CREATIVE WORK
I enjoy working with my hands and I’d actually love to learn more about woodworking and carpentry. During a previous WWOOFing experience I helped build composting toilets, measuring and cutting wood and doing other practical tasks. I’m happy to help with painting, DIY and creative projects, and I usually learn quite quickly by doing. I also have some basic knowledge of interior design from courses I took in the past.

COOKING
I cook simple, healthy everyday food and I always enjoy learning recipes from other countries and cultures.
