Description
Hi !
I am Saskia, a 23-year-old Swiss student with a background in social work, social policy and international development. I am a curious, open-minded and reliable person who enjoys meeting people from different backgrounds, contributing to collective projects and discovering new ways of living.
Over the past few years, I have increasingly felt the need to spend more time close to nature and to learn from people who have chosen a more sustainable, community-oriented or rural lifestyle. I am particularly interested in small-scale farming, regenerative agriculture, food production, ecological living and projects that create a meaningful connection between people and their environment.
Workaway is not completely new to me: I have already completed three very positive Workaway experiences. During one of them, I helped in a family-run B&B and farm, where I was responsible for maintaining the garden, cleaning and preparing guest rooms, helping with breakfast preparation, and carrying out general maintenance and practical tasks around the property.
During my studies, I also lived for one year on a dairy farm. This gave me a better understanding of everyday rural life, including its routines, responsibilities and physical demands. I enjoyed living in an environment shaped by the seasons, animals and agricultural work, and it strengthened my wish to learn more about farming and environmentally conscious ways of living.
From September 2026, I will be completing a part-time internship with an international development NGO in Barcelona. My work will focus on climate policy, climate finance and a just energy transition, including research and programme-support activities related to countries such as Burkina Faso and the Central African Republic. As I will work around 20 hours per week (which would be mostly remotely), I am looking for a place in Catalonia where I could combine the internship with a more grounded daily life in nature and contribute meaningfully during the rest of my time.
I am happy to help with gardening, harvesting, caring for animals, cleaning, cooking, organising activities, language exchange, childcare and general maintenance, etc. I do not consider myself an agricultural expert, but I am motivated, physically active, comfortable learning by doing and not afraid of practical or repetitive work.
Outside work and studies, I enjoy hiking, cooking, photography, swimming, biking, skiing and spending time with animals. I am sociable and enjoy shared meals and conversations, but I also respect people’s privacy and am comfortable spending time independently. -

I was welcomed with open arms by a caring, open-minded family who exude serenity and authenticity.
I had the great opportunity to spend a lot of time with Lion, playing, laughing, throwing hundreds of sticks higher and higher for Lion's greatest happiness.

I met people who were open-minded, caring, with a good sense of humour, generous and I could go on for hours as the list is so long...
In short, I loved everything, whether it was the hours spent making mosaics, around the table, playing ping pong, etc. And … read more
