Description

I'm a 27-year-old woman from Philadelphia, USA. I love long-distance hiking and running, working on my old house that I share with two friends, and learning traditional crafts like pottery and quilting. Professionally, I am a PhD candidate in anthropology, and also work in applied qualitative research in the health and social care sector. I'm equally happy to spend an evening chatting with new people or reading a book with my cat.

I will be traveling to Ireland for my postgraduate research work (more details on request). For this reason, I'm hoping to connect with households who need 4 hours or less of help per day, or alternatively, who can accommodate a flexible schedule for the help (mornings, evenings, weekends, one day on/one day off, etcetera).

I have plenty of experience with communal living. I currently share a cooperative house with two co-owners, and we organize weekly "family dinners" with a group of local households. In the past, I've lived and worked on a small communal farm, and thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail and Long Trail (lots of shared backcountry campsites and hostels for months at a time).

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Home maintenance: I take pride in keeping a clean and tidy house and would be happy to contribute in this way.

Home renovation: In my spare time at home I enjoy working to restore my 100-year-old townhouse, and would be comfortable helping with home DIY projects of that sort, though I am not a professional.

Farm and garden: I worked a few summers on a small family farm when I was younger, so while I’m no expert, I’m competent with garden, animal, and maintenance tasks so long as you tell me what needs doing.

Teaching and childcare: I am trained as a university teacher, so I’m a fair hand with homework help/tutoring for older children. I have also worked as a residential summer camp counselor, though I have no children of my own yet.

Outdoor skills and sports: I am an avid leave-no-trace backpacker (the hiking and camping kind, not the city kind) with almost 3000 miles under my belt. I also train competitively in cross country running/track and field. If you share these interests, I'm a willing partner for runs and expeditions!
