  • Description

    Hello!

To trade, I am an Air Conditioning Engineer, Electrician and Gas Engineer rolled into one. It has been a hard job, but one that earned me the opportunity to explore my most natural way of living: as a traveller.

I don't work that job at the moment, and have travelled with my laptop and books to pursue a newfound passion of Travel Writing. Alongside some other hobbies such as running and learning Spanish (a little less a hobby and more a life ambition), my desire is simply to experience what is out there. I feel fortunate as so much is finding me, and with such little responsibility holding me to any one place, it means every place is open and available.

As for me and my past, I grew up in a wonderful family home as oldest of three brothers, and I know I always have this home to fall back on. I love football at all levels, reading, writing, exercise, learning, walking. I completed a Camino de Santiago route last year (del Norte), which was an experience simply beyond words. I'm an incredibly hard worker and take sometimes an OCD level of pride in whatever work I am doing, which was so useful in making a success of my engineering career. I love to cook (debates on it's quality) and enjoy camping from time to time.

Otherwise, I don't need much to be happy. Some books, my writing, space to exercise, Wifi so I can keep in touch with some friends, and some company from time to time, although being alone is vital too.

I'd be happy for anyone to get in touch with any opportunity, even if it's only to discuss the possibility. Any questions or queries, I am happy to answer and, as mentioned with the above, my life is super flexible at the moment to accommodate.

    Many Thanks

    Paul :)

It is a life goal to learn Spanish, simple as that. I have so many Spanish speaking friends from the mainland and the Americas, while the country itself is somewhere I dream to live in. I have self-taught at home over the last 6 months and just last week began hiring tutors via iTalki to help advance my learning. Otherwise, I am fluent in English and, while it is something I have never tried teaching, I would welcome the challenge with some care. (I'd also hope that as an aspiring travel writer, I'd do okay).

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Physically demanding work, patience, adaptability, eagerness to learn, never give-up, leading by example.

My job as an engineer was to be the Swiss Army knife, as my manager used to call me, and adapt across multiple different trades whereas most engineers had one. This taught me intuition, patience, fault finding and analysing, breaking down problems into manageable sections, not to mention a wealth of experience across so many different areas of work and a go to under emergencies.
My time as a football coach of young teenagers taught me leadership, a LOT of patience, and working under pressure and difficult circumstances.
My time working with my mother in her role with special needs kids and families, in the school she worked with our subsequent private care business, taught me compassion, attention to detail, and clarity.
Walking the Camino de Santiago taught me that I have all the tools I need to be happy and thrive, how to look internally for motivation and in times of uncertainty, that the answers and strength I need is within.

I believe I have a variety of skills to make me valuable to almost any role or job needing done, but I believe my biggest attribute is that I can learn anything, with some simple instruction and my own determination to improve.

Oh, a last chance to mention something.

I suppose I'd just ask you to reach out, that while profiles are one thing, being able to talk to the person is another, and I'd be happy to hear about any questions and opportunities you might have.

I'm currently sitting on a terraced cafe in el Jadida while writing this, and my hard work made it possible.

Hope to hear from you soon :)
