Hey! My name is Oscar, I’m 26 years old and I was born and raised in a small town in central Mexico. Growing up surrounded by nature and animals, I developed a deep appreciation and respect for both from a very young age.

A few years ago, I moved to Mexico City to pursue my career as a Business Management Engineer. I’ve learned a lot and had some great experiences along the way, but after spending several years working in a fast-paced city environment, I feel it’s time to slow down a little, reconnect with nature, and take some time to explore a different way of living.

For me, traveling is not just about seeing new places, but about getting to know the people who live there, experiencing their culture and everyday life, learning new things, and sharing my own culture and experiences as well.

I speak Spanish and English. I’m still working on improving my English, especially my fluency, but I’m comfortable communicating, having conversations, and getting to know new people.

I’m a respectful, tidy and easygoing person. I enjoy being around people and having a good conversation, but I’m also perfectly comfortable working on my own. I adapt easily to new environments and I always try to keep a positive attitude, even when things don’t go exactly as planned.

In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors, going for long walks, riding my bicycle, exploring new places, writing, listening to music, and simply having a good conversation over a coffee. I’m curious by nature and I really enjoy learning from other people and their experiences.

I’m also looking forward to having my second Workaway experience. My first one was in Canada, where I stayed at a ranch and had a wonderful experience working, learning new things, meeting great people and spending time around animals and nature. That experience is actually one of the reasons I’m excited to do Workaway again.

I’m hoping this next adventure give me the opportunity to contribute, learn, meet wonderful people, experience Icelandic life and create some memories along the way.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I’m comfortable with physical work and I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty. Growing up in the countryside and around animals taught me from a young age to be practical, patient and responsible when working.

I have been around and taking care of animals since I was a child, including sheep, horses, cows, pigs and chickens. I’m comfortable with the daily responsibilities that come with caring for animals and I genuinely enjoy being around them.

I’m also familiar with basic tools and tasks related to cleaning, maintenance, organizing and taking care of different spaces. I enjoy hands-on work and learning how to do things I haven’t done before.

I’m a social and helpful person, and I work well both independently and as part of a team. My professional experience has also taught me how to organize tasks, solve problems, communicate with different people and stay calm in dynamic environments.

I’m always willing to learn new skills and help wherever I’m needed. If I don’t know how to do something, I’m happy to learn and give it a try.
