Description

I wanted to take a break from my professional life to accompany my daughter Line on her trip to South America. We are both passionate about travel and discovering other cultures.
The most wonderful encounters I've had during my travels have happened through participating in projects and immersing myself in local life. My work in the healthcare sector has allowed me to meet people from all over the world. I come from a farming family, and although I've never lived on a farm, I worked for several years in the field of agricultural workers' health.
I'm also currently relearning Spanish and would like to take advantage of this trip to finally improve my language skills. ~Nicolas

I am currently taking a gap year from my studies to learn more about the world and about myself.
This trip to South America is an opportunity for me to discover new landscapes, cultures, and people, while helping me shape my future life project.
I am also working on a study with one of my teachers about soil fertilization in South America, and I am very eager to learn more about agricultural practices during this journey. ~Line

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Nicolas is a healthcare professional, but he would like to use this trip to contribute in a different way. He enjoys manual labor and being in nature. He founded and still run a fair trade tourism agency in Madagascar. While there, he also participated in the construction and management of a dispensary. This allowed him to gain diverse experience: construction, team management (staff and volunteers), website creation, communication, event organization, and more.

Line is currently a student in agricultural and environmental engineering. She is passionate about nature and animals, and she would like to dedicate her life to working with them.
She has completed internships in nature reserves in France, South Africa, and the Caribbean, which made her very aware of conservation and ecological issues.
She also worked for a month on a farm, which made her really enjoy farm work and the farming lifestyle, and she is very eager to experience more of it.

We had a really nice week staying with Rafael.

Wilson is a lovely dog who loves going for walks and playing on the beach. He is also very good at hunting lizards and plastic bottles! We really enjoyed taking him for walks twice a day. We stayed for less than a week at La Granja ViDar, but we couldn’t be more grateful for this experience!

Alejandra, Christian and Evan are exceptional hosts. Kind, patient and funny, they have so many life experiences to share and so much knowledge to pass on. It’s a shame that our Spanish is limited, as we would have loved to be able to exchange … read more more with them on all kinds of different topics. They were nevertheless very patient with us and helped us gain confidence and improve our Spanish. Evan is such a lively and joyful boy, and it was a real pleasure to see how happy and fulfilled he is in nature.

We needed a break from the city, and this beautiful place turned out to be the perfect spot to disconnect and enjoy everything nature has to offer. Even though we only stayed for a few days, we felt that we were able to contribute, even in a small way, to this beautiful project. We learned more about agroecology and natural building (both fascinating subjects) while preparing and planting crops and helping to build the future toilets. We really enjoyed the work, and even more so the delicious food prepared by Alejandra with vegetables from the garden.

What a pleasure it was to walk through the mountains, swim in the river and wake up to the sound of birds singing every day. We slept in small tents, which turned out to be very comfortable, with a beautiful view of the river and the valley.

Thank you again for everything ! Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer. We would be very happy to come back once our Spanish has improved !

Nos quedamos menos de una semana en La Granja ViDar, ¡pero no podríamos estar más agradecidos por esta experiencia!

Alejandra, Christian y Evan son unos anfitriones excepcionales. Amables, pacientes y divertidos, tienen muchísimas experiencias de vida que compartir y muchos conocimientos que transmitir. Es una pena que nuestro español sea limitado, porque nos habría encantado poder conversar mucho más con ellos sobre todo tipo de temas. Sin embargo, tuvieron mucha paciencia con nosotros y nos ayudaron a ganar un poco más de confianza y a mejorar nuestro español. Evan es un niño lleno de vida, y fue un verdadero placer verlo tan feliz y realizado en contacto con la naturaleza.

Necesitábamos alejarnos un poco de la ciudad, y este hermoso lugar resultó ser el sitio perfecto para desconectarnos y disfrutar de todo lo que la naturaleza tiene para ofrecer. Aunque solo nos quedamos unos pocos días, sentimos que pudimos aportar nuestro granito de arena a este hermoso proyecto. Aprendimos más sobre agroecología y bioconstrucción (dos temas apasionantes) mientras preparábamos y plantábamos los cultivos y ayudábamos a construir los futuros baños. Disfrutamos mucho del trabajo, ¡y aún más de la deliciosa comida que preparaba Alejandra con las verduras del huerto!

¡Qué placer poder caminar por la montaña, bañarnos en el río y despertarnos cada día con el canto de los pájaros! Dormimos en pequeñas tiendas de campaña que resultaron ser muy cómodas, con una hermosa vista al río y al valle.

¡Muchas gracias de nuevo por todo! Nuestro único arrepentimiento fue no haber podido quedarnos más tiempo. ¡Estaríamos encantados de volver cuando hayamos mejorado nuestro español!
