Description

My name is Nicolaj, I am 27 years old and grew up in the countryside in Denmark, and have since moved to Copenhagen to complete my studies.

As a person, I am very curious about what the world has to offer, both in terms of people, cultures, alternative ways of living, and all the beautiful and scenic nature that exist.

I have traveled a lot throughout my life, both with my family and on my own, and have lived abroad twice, where I have met many interesting people, several of whom have become my really good friends. What my stays abroad have in common is that they have broadened my perspective on my own life and made me wiser about myself, my values and my choice of lifestyle.

Since completing my master's degree last summer, I have been eager to get out and travel and soak up more of the world. Now the opportunity has finally arrived, and I have decided to embark on a solo trip to South America.

South America has long been a dream destination for me, and on my trip I hope to learn more about the countries, cultures, languages, and history. Most of all, I look forward to experiencing the magnificent nature that the continent has to offer.

I believe that the best way to learn about language and culture is to immerse yourself in it for a while, which is why I want to apply for a workaway stay. At the same time, I find it incredibly meaningful to give something back to the community that is giving me such a great experience.

I am looking forward to the opportunities and experiences it will bring.

As part of my trip to South America I am very interested in learning Spanish which I have already started with Duolingo. I already speak English and German next to my mothertounge, Danish, but have always wanted to learn a latin language, particularly Spanish.

I have broad experience in several different fields, due to my interest in both academia and craftsmanship.

Academic skills
First and foremost, I am a graduate of Copenhagen Business School and hold a Master's degree in Business Administration and People and Business Development. At the same time, I have built up a broad range of professional experience, including five years working for the global company Hilti, which provides solutions for the construction industry. Combined with my academic background, I have developed skills such as:

- Thoroughness: I am a perfectionist who takes great pride in a job well done
- Solution-oriented: I am good at seeing solutions and opportunities when faced with a challenge
- Quick learner: I am very quick to learn and adapt to new environments
- Collaboration: I am good at and enjoy collaborating with other people and being part of a group dynamic - both as a student and at a workplace
- Leadership: As part of my studies, my time in the military, and my professional experience, I have trained my leadership skills and am not afraid to step up when necessary
- Communication: With experience in both sales and communication, I am skilled at communicating clearly and effectively, thereby sharing a message with others


Craftsmanship
I grew up in the countryside and will always be a country boy at heart, even though I now live in a big city. That's why I've always been busy with my hands, helping to maintain my house and garden, as well as helping to renovate my friends' houses and apartments. I am very interested in engines and mechanics and have always repaired and refurbished my mopeds, cars, and motorcycles myself. In addition, I have been go-karting for 10 years, which has also given me a lot of valuable experience with my hands. I have worked as an unskilled carpenter and gardener at times when my self-employed friends needed a handyman in their business. This combination has given me skills such as:

- Mechanical understanding: I have a deep understanding of and interest in engines, mechanics, and vehicle servicing
- Construction: I have worked with building and renovating houses myself, but also as an employee of Hilti, specializing in selling products to the industry
- Drive: I am willing to get stuck in and work hard until the task is completed, even if it is physically hard and demanding
- Craftsmanship: As the son of a craftsman and with a lifelong interest in using my hands, I have a broad general understanding of how to create something with my hands that is both attractive, thorough, and durable

As a person I am open-minded, willing to learn, curious and humble. I am currently in a phase of my life where i try to explore my purpose as I am not sure which career to pursue. A part of this process is to challenge myself by travelling solo at a foreign continent.
