Hello, I'm Nicolas, and I'm delighted to introduce myself to the Workaway community. My life is driven by a profound passion for exploration, music, and cultural exchange. Allow me to share a glimpse of what motivates me and brings me happiness.

In my leisure time, I enjoy the simplicity of hiking and backpacking, appreciating the serenity of nature and the thrill of new trails. Music holds a special place in my heart, and I find joy in playing the guitar, ukulele, and bass, with a soft spot for rock music. During my university days, I had the chance to be part of a band, and those experiences continue to resonate with me.

Since the age of six, I have been a dedicated member of the Belgian Federation of Scouts, and for the past eight years, I've taken on the role of a scout leader. Guiding and mentoring young minds in the beauty of nature and the value of teamwork has been incredibly rewarding.

My creativity doesn't stop with music and scouting; I also thrive in the world of improv. I was a member of my univesrity improv team and Since then, I've taken the stage in different improv shows in Brussels, cherishing the camaraderie and laughter it brings.

Professionally, I hold a degree in Informatic Engineering and worked as a PhD for three years. However, my desire to break free from the confines of a computer screen has led me to seek adventures beyond the ordinary. I yearn to travel the world, immerse myself in various cultures, and build connections with people from all walks of life.

I have a strong curiosity about different types of jobs related to agriculture, and I'm eager to learn and gain hands-on experience in this field through Workaway opportunities. One of my ambitions is to create my own vegetable garden, as I'm deeply drawn to the idea of living as self-sufficiently as possible.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Growing up in the countryside with vast gardens has equipped me with practical know-how in garden care. I'm skilled in tasks like cutting wood, trimming hedges, and maintaining the lawn, ensuring the outdoor spaces remain neat and beautiful. While I may not be an expert in managing and nurturing elaborate green spaces, I'm eager to learn more about cultivating diverse plants and creating vibrant, sustainable environments.

On the musical front, I can strum melodies on the guitar, ukulele, and bass, and if the mood strikes just right, I'm not afraid to sing along.

With a remarkable 20-year journey in the Belgian Federation of Scouts, I've learned the skills that every scout should know. From reading maps and building shelters to crafting wooden structures and creating fires for cooking, I'm well-equipped for outdoor living and thriving in small, close-knit groups. Embracing a minimalistic approach, I'm accustomed to living with only the essentials and finding joy in the simplicity of life.

A dash of comedy is an integral part of my nature, having explored the world of improv and even venturing into the realm of stand-up comedy. My storytelling abilities add a lively and entertaining element to any gathering, ensuring laughter and camaraderie all around.

Long journeys are no feat for me, as I've hiked and biked through various terrains, embracing the thrill of adventure and the serenity of nature's wonders.

Professionally, I hold a degree in Informatic Engineering, specializing in AI. Technology is my ally, and I'm comfortable navigating any computer-related task.

I look forward to putting my skills to use, contributing to meaningful projects, and learning from the richness of diverse cultures and experiences.

I'm a huge fan of games of all kinds! I have a big collection of board games and love creating my own games too. It doesn't take much - just a deck of cards or nothing at all - to have fun. I enjoy making games for children, ones that help people get to know each other, and simply entertaining challenges. Games bring people together, and during my Workaway experiences, I'd love to share my passion, introduce new games, and create unforgettable moments of joy and laughter.
