Hi! I'm Niamh, I'm from Scotland and have been volunteering at a vegan animal sanctuary for the past 7 months near Wellington where I met my partner Callie. We are looking for a vegan and LGBT friendly workaway for 1-4 weeks before Callie leaves for Europe. We both have lots of skills to offer including animal care, building skills, composting & compost toilets, permaculture gardening, vegan cooking and baking , etc. We are both very hardworking and independent, and are open to learning new things. We're also really passionate about travel and sustainability, we really value slow living and connecting to the environment and animals around us. We also love learning new cultures and hearing other people's perspectives on life.

A couple years ago I worked in various labs doing a typical 9 to 5. While interested in the science I was quite unhappy being so disconnected from nature and realized that wasn't how I wanted to live my life. That's when I started traveling and exploring my passions through workaways. I love hiking, kayaking, and most things outdoors as well as reading and knitting. I'm really interested in conservation work and our impact on local ecosystems. I'm more of an early bird whereas Callie is a night owl, so we make a good team.

Callie loves being in nature, reading, crafting, fashion, the beach and animals. They were a ballerina for 12 years before quitting due to health reasons. She still loves a good boogie though. She's always been very passionate about animals and living in harmony with them and nature like we should be.

We are fast learners and would love to further develop our skills or learn more!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have experience doing community outreach work in India. This involved engaging with locals of a variety of issues in setting such as school and healthcare centres.

In my free time in Scotland I love to pack a bag and head to the hills. At home I love finding projects to keep me busy and learning new skills along the way. I hugely enjoy learning new skills regardless of their importance.
