Hi! I’m a 19-year-old from Germany and I’ve just finished high school. Before starting university in 2027, I decided to take a gap year and travel around Europe.

I would describe myself as curious, open-minded, reliable and disciplined. I usually learn new things quite quickly, especially when someone shows me how something works and gives me the chance to try it myself.

I enjoy sports, being outdoors and exploring new places, but I’m also interested in people and how they actually live. One of the main reasons I want to do Workaway is that I don’t want to experience other countries only as a tourist. I want to get to know local people, experience their everyday life and contribute to it while learning new things myself.

Since I’m travelling alone, I’m also looking forward to meeting new people and becoming part of a family or community for a while.

German is my native language and I speak English well enough to have normal conversations as well as deeper conversations about different topics. I’m happy to help anyone who wants to learn or practise German. Learning languages is not the main goal of my trip, but I always enjoy learning a few words and expressions from the local language.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I don’t have professional experience in a specific trade, but I’m a quick learner and I’m used to physical work.

My family bought a garden a few years ago and we have renovated and rebuilt a large part of it ourselves. I helped with a lot of the work, including physically demanding tasks such as moving stones and materials. I’m happy doing garden work, outdoor work or other physical tasks.

I’m also interested in learning practical and DIY skills. If someone shows me how to do something properly, I can usually work independently afterwards.

I’m comfortable around animals and enjoy spending time with children. I also have a driving licence and I’m travelling with my own car, which I can use to help with things like shopping or transportation when needed.

I can cook basic meals, although I wouldn’t call myself a great cook yet!

I’m happy to work hard and contribute wherever I can. At the same time, I’m especially interested in hosts where I can become part of everyday life and not just be treated as someone who is there to work.

When I start a new task, I appreciate a good explanation of what needs to be done. Once I understand it, I’m usually happy to work independently and take responsibility for it.

I’m travelling with an open mind and don’t expect everything to be perfect or comfortable. I’m mainly looking forward to learning new skills, meeting interesting people and having experiences that I wouldn’t get from travelling as a normal tourist.
