I moved to Köln, after travelling this summer to start my Masters, I would love to meet and get to know other workawayers to travel together and enrich each other with our experiences.

Description

My name is Neeliya, I'm currently based in Lisbon, I’ve been living in Portugal since almost two years now.

This is gonna be my first time using Workaway, I'm really excited about it.

I always wanted to travel and do a solo trip in Asia, so I decided to quit my job to travel and explore Asia for three months.

I am Italian and Sri Lankan. Being of mixed heritage, growing up in Italy and with Sri Lankan roots, I have had the privilege of experiencing and appreciating two different cultures. With my multicultural background and extensive experience of living and studying in different countries, I believe I possess a unique ability to interact with people from diverse backgrounds and appreciate their lifestyles.

My diverse background has taught me the value of cultural understanding and the importance of bridging differences. It has also given me a unique perspective and the ability to approach challenges with an open mind.

So far I’ve participated to five different Erasmus experiences abroad between Internships and study semesters abroad and I've done different volunteering projects in Europe.

I felt like I needed to do something totally different, and that's why I decided to take this journey, I want to experience and see a country as a local, connect and get to know a new culture in a more authentic way.

Since I grew up in Sri Lanka for the first couple of years of my childhood, I always had a keen interest to make a difference in my surroundings and to be able to help people with financial difficulties. I want to give job opportunities to local people, especially for women, give value to their work by helping them to be more independent, especially offering them better working conditions. I want to convince people to make more responsible and conscious choices in their daily life, by helping them to shift towards a more ethical consumption.

I'm a sunny person, I like to be surrounded by positive people that inspire me and give me new perspectives and visions of life.

I'm bilingual in Italian and Sinhala. I'm fluent in English I have C1 level of the IELTS certificate level. I'm fluent also in Spanish level B2. I'm learning French and Portuguese.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I graduated from the University of Ferrara in Italy in July of last year with a bachelor's degree in Economics and Business Management, currently I'm working for a French company in Insurance.

My passion is photography, I would love to help you with photography and videography.
I also enjoy analogic ad film photography.

I worked for Facebook and Instagram for 8 months in Lisbon working with digital media and helped small/medium size enterprises with their Ad accounts.

I also worked on social and sustainable entrepreneurship projects.

I volunteered for a year at the University of Bologna in the association of SMA in the Botanic Garden Museum.

I worked as a babysitter and teacher for many years when I was younger, I also participated to different social and inclusive projects working with kids with autism and down syndrome
I'm a really creative person.

I can also cook moderately, I know to cook really well Italian and Sri Lankan food.
