Hello-

My Name is Carly. I am currently looking for a places to workaway while I am traveling in Japan November/December 2025. I have a plethora of experience farming, gardening, land tending, working on various construction and craft projects, and living in community. I am resourceful, disciplined and willing to work solo or with others.

I am ready for rugged work in beautiful places with wonderful kin.

I would particularly love to find rural to semi-rural places that have access to lively, community hubs of traditional life ways while also giving me time for quiet and stillness when desired. I am particularly interested in Japanese cuisine (especially fermented/ preserved foods), material arts, tea ceremony, Japanese Buddhism, Butoh and zen meditation.

Though I am learning, my Japanese is limited and a host with some English is ideal.

I love being outside, growing food, cooking, dancing, meditating, crafting, and studying various movement forms.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I am competent in the garden, from starting seeds to harvest. I’m still becoming familiar with different regions specific needs and am happy to learn from people with different experiences/ approaches. I love perennial systems and would love to be part of more! I am comfortable around animals, including livestock, have experience moving fence, and heavy lifting tasks such as feeding and watering.

I have basic carpentry skills and can follow directions. I've participated in various home improvement projects over the years.

Fun fact: I love organizing :)
