Description

A bit more about me. I am a 52 year young Dutch woman who lived for 20 years in the Austrian Alps and 12 years in northern Spain.

I started my long-term trip on 1st November in New Zealand and went afterwards to Fiji to be on a sailboat for 7 weeks. I would love to travel more and learn in each country about the culture and the people and develop a new skill.

In Spain I was a teacher and grew my own vegetables and made cheese and chorizo. I built my own house (construction work) there too.
While living in Austria I have always worked in Tourism. Tourist Information, Travel Agency, Receptionist, logistics and Project Manager.

I speak fluent English, Spanish, German and Dutch. Do some French and Italian as well.

Love being active. I am easy going, non-judgemental and kind. Love sharing moments with wonderful people.
I am a non-smoker. Don't do drugs and only drink occasionally. I eat all kinds of food (tend more to vegetables than meat/fish though) and I am very handy with all sorts of jobs.
In Spain I supported an organisation helping stray dogs to find a new home. Occasionally fostering for them. With my own dogs I did sheep herding. (Border Collie)

It was nice having Melanie come and stay with us. She was great in the gardens and helped immensely with clearing our grounds. She was careful in her work and had initiative when it came to an area which need more attention. She was good in all areas including cleaning and cooking. Happy to recommend her to other hosts.

Staying at the Buddhist Centre was a wonderful experience. Unfortunately there weren't retreats during my stay, so I hadn't much "cultural" or spiritual exchange. Melanie is a first rate and very kind volunteer. You could not ask for a harder working person. She takes incredible pride in her work and has a strong work ethic.
