Hi, I'm César!!

I live and work in the mountains of Spain, where I've been a forest ranger since 1999. My days follow the rhythm of the seasons, surrounded by trees, animals, and silence.

I'm fascinated by the quiet beauty of small and simple things — a spiderweb lit by the morning sun, the smell of damp earth, or a mushroom growing exactly where it belongs. These are the kinds of moments I’ve always enjoyed sharing with my son, especially when he was little.

I'm agricultural engineer, but most of what I know has come through experience and from learning directly from others — especially people who carry wisdom in their hands and stories in the way they work. I've collaborated with NGOs on environmental and community projects in different countries, and each experience has taught me humility, adaptability, and the joy of learning through exchange.

I enjoy working with my hands — building, fixing, and finding solutions using what’s available. I have a deep respect for traditional knowledge and sustainable living, and I believe that doing things together naturally leads to meaningful conversation and connection.

What brings me to Workaway is the desire to truly connect with people and places. I’m not interested in superficial tourism or social media (I don’t even use it). I value genuine exchange — the kind that happens when people work side by side, share meals, and learn from one another.

And just to be clear: I don’t sing, dance, or play any instruments.
But, Ey!!!, I can build you a bench so others can enjoy the show.
We all bring something different to the table, right? 😉

Work experience as a stonemason/ bricklayer, skilled forestry worker, machinary operator.

Longtime project with NGO on sustainable agriculture.

Restoration works.

Manual works with all kinds of materials, especially wood, stone, leather, steel...

I'm curious and passionate about learning about everything and thanks to this we've been able to build a solid house in our mountains.
