Description

I am a registered nurse that is retiring from my current profession in order to fulfill two of my dreams. I love travel and I love animals. In preparation for my next phase in life, I have taken a class at the local community college and received a certificate for veterinary assistant. This certificate involved an internship at a veterinary clinic. I am very active and love the outdoors. I want to see the world and at the same time, give something back using the skills I have. I’m passionate about animals of all kinds and travel. I enjoy learning new things.

Registered nurse with the skills and knowledge that go with that. Mother, dog owner, homeowner that loves cooking, organization, gardening and landscaping. I love restoring old homes and furniture so I’m handy around the house. I’m a mature responsible adult.

I originally was going to stay 3 weeks at the farm this summer but instead was there less than a week. I just want to caution other workaways that this is more than a small family farm. I spent 2 weeks this summer at the shelter with Ruth and Karen, who were very helpful. The dogs were all very lovely and well cared for. It was a great location near to the beach and a small Portuguese town with plenty of time to explore them.

Jayne was a very helpful, calm and flexible person whose knowledge of dogs worked well here. She was friendly and worked well in a team. She socialised with the other volunteers nicely.

I spent 3 weeks at Evelyn's animal rescue this summer. It was like a little miniature farm with not only dogs, but chickens, pigs, donkeys and a horse. It was a wonderful experience.
