Hey there! I’m Matteo, I’m 39 years old, and I love outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking and exploring nature. I’m also a certified scuba diver and have always had a strong connection with the sea.

I currently work for the Italian national postal service from April to September, and I live in south-western Sardinia, Italy. I grew up in Portoscuso, a coastal town built around a small Spanish harbour about five hundred years ago. Sardinia has a strong tourism tradition, so much of my professional experience has been in tourism and hospitality: I have worked as a Hotel Receptionist, Boat Driver and Scuba Diver, meeting people from all over the world.

Over the last few years, I have also developed a strong practical and hands-on background. I have experience with carpentry, electrical and plumbing work, general maintenance, repairs and renovation, as well as working at heights and underwater.

I have spent two winters in Norway doing Workaway at a children's campsite, where I lived and worked as part of an international team. We renovated several cabins and I was involved in a wide range of practical projects, including replacing a roof, building around 20 bunk beds, carpentry, electrical work, repairs, maintenance, painting and general renovation. This experience gave me even more confidence working independently and taking responsibility for practical tasks.

I really enjoy being useful, learning new skills and getting things done. I’m reliable, hardworking and comfortable with physical work, but I also enjoy the social side of living with people from different countries and cultures.

I currently have a few months away from my main job and would love to use this time to discover a new place, improve my English, meet new people and contribute with my practical skills.

I’m always excited about new adventures and looking forward to seeing where the next one takes me!

I love to spend my free time improving my English, learning a new language, or teaching Italian. One of the most useful tools is certainly the app HelloTalk, which I use constantly to meet new language partners and talk with my old native English-speaking friends.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

#General Maintenance
I have a high school diploma as an electrical engineering technician, so I can manage the general maintenance of electrical systems. I'm also quite good with the basics of hydraulics and mechanics.

#DIY and building projects
I have developed strong DIY skills over the years. Some examples? I have designed and built wooden furniture and accessories for my home, I've always painted my house by myself, and resolved car issues whenever possible.

#Customer Service
Thanks to my work experience, I possess good customer service skills. I am capable of addressing client needs and ensuring satisfaction while maintaining high levels of perceived quality.
