I'm Mattes, 20 years old and have just graduated from High School in Germany last summer. Since i want to start studying architecture at the end of this year, I decided to take a gap semester, cause there is no better time to travel freely around the world. I am very keen and motivated to meet new people, new places, cultures, experience exciting things, discover nature, ...
I am more than happy to have discovered Workaway as a great opportunity for going abroad and living together with people while supporting. I think it is an amazing exchange for both parties.
Also I didn't have the chance to do an exchange as a student due to covid restrictions which is why i am seeing this as a way to make up for that lost experince.
I am a very active person who loves sports, socialize with people and be outdoors.
Additionally, I am conscientious, reliable and honest and do my tasks ambitiously. Also, I am absolutely a family person who enjoys to be surrounded by people, cook together, talk, laugh, do sports,... I am very excited to share fun times together!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

In school, I have studied englisch and spanisch. I choose to have English lessons on a higher level which is why I consider my English to be pretty fluent but also why i didnt have spanisch lessons for the past 2 years.
When it comes to abilities in the household, I love to cook a variety of different cuisines such as Asian, Oriental, European, ... and enjoy to try out new things! At home, loften cook for my family or we all cook together. We also share the work at home like cleaning, doing laundry, etc.
Apart from that, I have a basic knowledge of how to fix things. During the lockdown fo example l decided to recycle and rebuild an old bike so l learned lots of new technical skills. Since my dad works in the property sector, l also help him there a lot and learned to use different power tools, painting etc.
I have much experince in customer contact and support as i have worked for 3 years as a waiter in a restaurant. And having done multiple jobs and a shorter basis as a bartender or waiter on events such as catering on fairs or festivals.
Also, I did some babysitting both for kids of friends of my parents as well as for family members (cousins) as l have quite a big family.

I love to do sports. At home, I play football, go running quite often and do fitness.
Also I have a river close to my home where I go kayaking and stand up paddling quite often as well as swimming. I also enjoy walking my dog in the nature and do hikes. When on vacation, love any kind of watersports such as surfing, wind surfing, sailing, waterskiing,... In winter time, I love to go skiing. Additionally, I used to play Guitarre and love listening to music. l also like to read sometimes. Other than that, I am a curious person and would love to try new hobbies by sharing your interests.
