Description
Hello everyone! I'm Marco, a 25 year old Italian guy. I am very curious, sunny, adventurous and "a little bit addicted to adrenaline :)".
I love nature, animals and especially the mountains. I practice a lot of mountain sports such as ski mountaineering, skiing, mountain biking, downhill skiing, trekking, etc. but I have also played other team sports such as football, basketball, etc. I don't smoke, no drugs and no alcool. I have a great desire to discover the world, to do and learn new things and to meet new people!
Specifically, I come from a small town on the edge of the Dolomites, where I can do all these sports. I grew up in a country house, so I have always been used to doing all the housework, both inside, helping my mom with the cooking and cleaning, and outside, like gardening, growing the garden and making wood. There are four of us in my family: my dad, my mom, my brother and me. We also have a dog, a German shepherd.
My mom is a teacher and sometimes I help her when she goes on trips with her little students. I often help my uncle in his construction company, so I have a few thousand hours on excavators and other construction equipment. I used to work in mechanical companies during summer vacations to continue my studies in a practical way. In October 2024, I finished my studies. Specifically, I graduated with a master's degree in mechanical engineering. But before I start working, I want to fulfill a few wishes in my drawer and discover the world! At the moment I live on a farm in Tahsis. Here I do a lot of different jobs. I have built almost entirely a caravan based Airbnb, from ground preparation with excavator, septic, plumbing, solar system, stone concrete stairs and walls, landscaping ecc.
I have also done carpentry, and many other DIY jobs to keep the farm running well.

As I wrote above, I come from a working family with a big house in the country. There are a lot of chores to do both inside and outside.

OUTSIDE-SHOP
I have the equivalent of a year's work in construction. My uncle has a construction business, so I have been helping him since I was young. I have used a lot of equipment such as excavators, skid steers, cranes, and various other tools. I have done plumbing work, construction of walls, stairs, houses, landscaping.

I know how to do all kinds of yard work, such as pruning plants, cutting grass, etc., cultivating the garden and making wood on my property. I also spent many summers working on a farm, picking grapes. I also drove small tractors.

After my studies I did a lot of internships in machine shops. So I know how to use lathes, milling machines, drills, etc., and "other non-useful tasks as a workman". I have done some electrical work fixing some equipment and I have built two solar systems.

INSIDE
I help my mom with cleaning and cooking. However, for the last 5 years of my life I have lived in an apartment in the city where I studied, so I can take care of myself.

Additional:
I also have a drone (and drone license) with which I take some photos and videos. I also like to edit some videos, but I don't have time for everything :)

I booked my stay at this farm with the idea of staying there for a month. I was there for a full 6, from the unpopulated February to the more lively August.
Darren welcomed me and gave me full trust and responsibility to do everything he needed, allowing me to learn new things and improve my knowledge. Sometimes we worked together but most of the… read more time he left me the freedom and time to learn and try on my own. So I was not just a helper watching but was fully involved in every job I did, and this made me grow a lot.

The main WORK I did involved preparing new sites for BnB, such as preparing the ground with an excavator, installing septic system, water supply, electricity and solar system. Creation of rock steps, gardening and landscaping. Minor renovation of a caravan, such as re-roofing insulation and various interior electrical and domestic arrangements. Cleaning maintenance and creation of trails. Preparation of a self-sufficient cabin for selling eggs with solar power. Preparation of my cabin with water supply and solar system. Construction of a 74ft x 28ft wooden shed with wood from the property. And miscellaneous maintenance that is always needed on such a large property!

In my FREE-TIME however, I was able to explore the surroundings of the property and the small village of Tahsis. Darren offers kayaks/paddleboards and bicycles. He also has a boat with which we went to explore a beautiful (frozen) waterfall from which to take some excellent dives. Most of the time, however, I explored the surroundings on foot walking in the forests with my most trusted adventure companions Myra and Tia (the dogs). The trails in this area are now all abandoned but with the right determination many attractions can still be reached. With other guys on the farm, we explored for example many non-tourist caves and climbed Tahsis Mountain. At the weekend we occasionally had some parties, very often in front of a fire, while in “fire-band” we went to the village, where every Friday there is a “rock the dock” event with live music.

During these months I got to know many people who like me chose to live this experience, some stayed longer others stayed only a few weeks, but in any case I always felt like I was in a family. Breakfast and lunch are at everyone's discretion while dinner is always done together and cooked in rotation. Who loses the card game wash the dishes!

In the farm I stayed because this lifestyle has always been a dream of mine. In this corner of Canada, I left my heart. I will always be grateful to Darren and lovely Carmel.
