Description
Hey there!
We are Luca & Jamilah, a German couple who quit their jobs in the corporate world to follow their passion and travel around the globe.
While both of us love exploring new places and of course seeing breathtaking views in different countries, our highlights have always been the amazing people we met along the way, who shared their culture, stories and beliefs with us.
Since we are traveling on a budget, we decided to join Workaway to combine our love for meeting new people from all around the world and getting to know their ways of living by emerging ourselves in local projects, all while not spending a fortune.
We are both very friendly and open, easy-going and love to joke around, but also like serious and meaningful conversations. In our free time, we like to hang out with other people, play board or card games, do something active outside, or just see what the day brings.

Jamilah has some experience in teaching basic conversational German and would love to teach you the language if you like. We're both interested in learning Bahasa Melayu and learn (Jamilah) and improve (Luca) Spanish.

Long version:
Since both of us have been working in various jobs since we were teens, we both managed to learn a broad set of skills over time. Our most recent jobs in the corporate world have been in Public Relations & Marketing (Luca) and in People Development (HR) as a Manager for Diversity and Inclusion (Jamilah). Both of us have a Bachelor's degree in Media and Communications science.
Luca has been attending a Waldorf school when he was young. He, therefore, has experience in woodworking, gardening (more experience as an assistant in landscaping for 1+ years), herding sheep, cows, chickens and other farm animals and handicrafts like sewing, crocheting & knitting.
He also has been involved in working with people, who have disabilities by assisting them with daily tasks and accompanying them on various outings.
Additionally, Luca has been working with children all throughout his life. He used to supervise & entertain large groups of kids at summer camps, help out in an orphanage in South America and babysat for a local family.
Other experiences of his include managing a food stall at a yearly industrial fair (including managing the team members working there) for 4+ years, waiting tables and assisting in the kitchen of a restaurant.
Jamilah has an extensive background in childcare. She has 6+ years of experience as a babysitter/nanny and has lived in the USA as an Au Pair for one year after she finished school. She's also been involved in teaching German as a foreign language as part of her corporate job as well as part of a job at university and is experienced in working with people from all over the world. She's also been supervising a summer program for international students at the university and has strong organizational skills.
Other jobs she's done in the past included working as a barista, a cashier and a ticket clerk at the movie theater and assisting as a junior bartender.
Both of us don't mind physical work and are very thorough and conscientious.
Luca would love to get more into woodworking, as he slowly started to build his own furniture lately.
We're both also very interested in working in tourism/hospitality, on local farms, in child- and animal care or just assist you with any projects in the house.

Some additional information that might be useful:
- We'll be in Canada on a working holiday visa and Jamilah has a valid health certificate, enabling her to work with kids.
