Hi, I'm Lorena, a chill and easygoing 26-year-old from Sardinia, Italy.
I'm currently in the process of writing my master's thesis in astrophysics to (hopefully) get my degree in early April, which is about around when I'll be available to start traveling again.

I've already had a couple of amazing experiences with workaway a few years back, where I mainly helped the hosts with cleaning, painting and re-organizing their homes and garden, as well as taking care of their pets and cooking loads of vegan/vegetarian/plant based meals.
This time around, I don't really have a strict or specific idea of the type of experience I'm looking for with workaway, I'm just really open to everything: from farm stays, sustainable eco-projects and NGOs to family life with children and/or pets. I want to learn new skills, discover different parts of the world and meet lots of new interesting people, while leading conscious travels.
I'm not much of a night-life party girl, so I'd much rather be around animals and immersed in nature, somewhere (hopefully near the sea or the woods) where I can go for a walk, take in the scenery and maybe even paint for a while. I would love to recharge my energy, connect with humans and non-humans alike.
That being said, while I do value my alone time, I'm also very much a sociable person and can actually be quite the chatterbox in the right setting. In fact, I'd love to meet and share some experiences with other workawayers from around the world, which I'm sure is going to make it all the more fun! I love to foster community and share my stories and energy with others. I would also want to grow in different ways, find conscious and mindful practices to help me live in the moment and share gratitude with others.

Another thing you should know about me is that, for these past 5 years, I've been teaching maths and physics to middle and high school students through an online platform; since this has been my main source of income I'd like to keep working during my workaway experience as a *digital nomad*. These lectures usually only keep me busy 3-4 hours a week, tipically in the late afternoons, so I'd love to find a place to stay where my help is needed mostly in the mornings/late evenings/weekends.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I'm a fairly good cook, especially when it comes to vegan/vegetarian meals, so I would love to come and help out in a family kitchen or a small restaurant. I've already worked in a restaurant in my home town both as a waitress/dishwasher and as a chef's assistant, and I've developed a real expertise in turning food scraps into whole meals.

I'm also a creative person with pretty good manual skills (drawing, painting ect..) so I wouldn't mind joining a family/community in the middle of a renovation/art project or in need of a house cleaner. I don't necessarily have a lot of building/reparing experience, but I'm very willing to learn and I don't mind getting my hands dirty.

For this reason, I'd also love to get some experience in gardening/eco projects/farmstay help somewhere I can connect with nature. Coming from a farmers family myself, we've always had animals to look after (cows, sheep, chicken, pigs, etc...) and a vegetable garden to tend to, so I'm used to the physical labour of having to harvest fruit/vegetables :)

Having graduated university with a degree in astrophysics, I'm naturally interested in space science, especially planetology.
As far as other hobbies go, I enjoy watching tv shows (my favourites are Doctor Who, Queer as Folk and Sherlock), painting and listening to music (my go to is usually Queen and other 80's pop/rock) and cooking plant based meals (Indian/Asian cuisine is definitely my favourite).
