Hi there, I'm Lisa! I'm an open minded and creative girl from the Netherlands, always ready for the next adventure. My first solo travels were interrailing in Europe when I was 22, when 2 months got extended to 6 because I fell in love with the travel lifestyle and especially with doing workaways. Then after being home for a little less than a year, I set off to Asia and traveled there for 14 months, visiting 10 different countries, doing again various Workaways. It's been almost 2 years since I came back home from these travels, and now I am searching for my next adventure :)

Meeting new people and sharing experiences is what makes me feel truly alive. I am very passionate about new ways of living and being together, in harmony with each other and the earth. I prefer slow-traveling and truly getting to know the culture of a country, instead of just ticking off all the tourist attractions. This is what brought me to workaway in the first place. I love to contribute back to the world and places I visit, and learn more through experience in the meantime.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have completed multiple Workaways over the years, ranging from volunteering at a dog shelter in Croatia and building an eco-village in Thailand, to supporting an NGO in India. I’ve also worked as a tour guide, cared for horses on a ranch in Turkey, and volunteered at several hostels. I’m not afraid of hard or physical work and truly enjoy immersing myself in new cultures and experiences. During some other Workaways, I painted murals, which played a huge role in kick-starting my career as an artist, something I’m still actively pursuing now that I’m back home (www.lisaberkouwer.nl).

My background is in design, and I currently work in communications. This has given me experience in website design, social media content creation, branding, and graphic design for posters, flyers, and other materials. While my current role is an office job, which actually doesn’t really suit me, it is within a field I deeply care about, as I work for an organisation focused on fighting climate change. I’m very environmentally oriented and hope to explore ways of living more closely connected to nature.

I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training in Rishikesh two years ago. Although I haven't taught much yoga since, I practice yoga daily. I love working with kids and working with animals! Also I’m really into photography, I always bring my beloved camera on my travels.

Last but not least, I’m currently organising a transformative festival/gathering in the Netherlands, exploring how we can be fully human together through play, connection, and community. Next to this I organized an art festival a couple of months back, so organizing events and hosting workshops is also something I have experience with!
