Ciao, shwmae! We are Lewis (Welsh) and Erika (Italian) :))
We are a nature loving couple who enjoy exploring the world, one step at a time, learning people’s life stories, cultures and perspectives. We find happiness in simple things - reading a good book, exercising, travelling, hiking and sharing moments with friends and family.
Recently, we spent some time in a small village in Portugal, taking part in a permaculture project. It was an amazing experience that inspired us to continue exploring sustainable living and volunteering around the world. Before settling down somewhere, we hope to see more of the world, not just as tourists, but through volunteering experiences that allow us to connect deeply with local people and their cultures. Also because we discovered that helping others and contributing to meaningful projects really motivates us and we believe this might be our ikigai! :)

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Erika graduated in Languages and Business, studying English and Russian. Her native language is Italian, and she’s fluent in English after living in Scotland for eight years. She also speaks Spanish (self-taught) and remembers some basic Russian. During the pandemic, she completed a Master’s in Translation and recently earned her TEFL certificate, as she loves teaching and working with children. Back in her hometown in Italy, Erika was always involved in her community — often helping to look after and entertain children. She enjoys keeping spaces clean and organized, and she’s eager to share her Italian cuisine and explore different ones. With several years of experience as a hospitality manager, she has strong organization and people skills and is very attentive to others’ needs. Recently, she joined a volunteering experience focused on permaculture, where she learned about many things including gardening, repointing, and grinding.
Lewis is a qualified plumber with several years of hands-on experience, in Wales, Australia and New Zealand where he lived for 5 years. His skills go far beyond plumbing though :) He’s worked on projects involving gardening, basic construction, and general maintenance. He loves practical work, problem-solving, and anything that involves numbers or hands-on creativity. Lewis isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty, whether it’s fixing something, building, or working outdoors. Outside of work, Lewis is also a bit of a computer geek and a music lover who plays the guitar. He enjoys reading, especially about history and psychology. And he is the best at making the perfect cup of tea :)
Together, we make a great team: hardworking, adaptable, and always ready to learn new skills and help wherever we can!

We enjoy playing cards and classic board games such as chess, backgammon, and checkers — a little friendly competition always adds to the fun. We both appreciate spending evenings around a fire, sharing stories, and learning about different cultures and perspectives.
We also have a strong affection for animals and take great pleasure in their company. We believe that spending time with them is mutually enriching and brings a sense of peace and connection.
We both love being surrounded by nature and exploring the outdoors is another passion we share. Lewis is passionate about fishing and Erika likes meditate/yoga and taking photos of every amazing experience with her polaroid and Canon!
Recently, we completed 250 km of the Camino de Santiago and spent ten days travelling through Scotland in a campervan, both unforgettable experiences that deepened our love for adventure!
