Description
We are a young couple with a willingness to work and learn. We see Workaway as an opportunity to collaborate and connect with people and the world. We were recently a part of YIP (a social entrepreneurship training in Sweden) which has encouraged us to look more closely at how we interact with the world. We are interested in community engagement, farming, animals, cooking, eating (important!), music and exchanging stories.
After travelling through Europe, we have lived in Adelaide, Australia for the past 4 years but now we feel like it's time to get back on the road, so we have decided to travel to Japan. We will be arriving in early February 2026 and we're hoping to find somewhere we can experience the snow and go skiing!
We are both capable workers with independency and autonomy.
Leila has recently finished her bachelors in primary education and has extensive work experience in childcare.
Kensho has worked in small scale farming and hospitality for over 8 years. He has worked primarily in the coffee industry for the past 4 years as a coffee roaster, barista and managing a specialty coffee cafe.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
Leila
I have worked on farms since I was 8 years old. I grew up around a sheep farm in Australia with crops, sheep, cattle and dogs. I am confident in working with all animals. More recently I worked on a lettuce farm in growing, production and delivery. This was long hours outside and in.
I love working with children and I have worked as a OSHC coordinator (out of school hours care) while studying primary education and I have been a babysitter for at least 8 years with multiple households. I also housesit regularly. I am skilled in sewing, cooking, woodwork, basic metalwork, cleaning, gardening and fixing of things (I can generally sort things out).
Kensho
I have work experience in the service industries in Japan, Germany and Australia.
I am passionate about farming, rock climbing and all things coffee. I have skills and knowledge in coffee. I have started multiple vegetable patches of my own and I have also worked for small scale organic farms.

We arrived expecting to work and that's what we did. We did everything from weeding and harvesting vegetables, shoveling cow manure, fencing, transplanting cutting and more. As with all working farms… read more
