Description
Hi, nice to meet you! I'm Laura, an outgoing undergrad from Milan currently studying quantitative methods for finance and insurance. It might sound intense (and most times it is!) but I balance it out by seeking adventure, meaningful connections and lighthearted moments. I will be graduating soon! This will be my last summer as a student for now. After graduating in october I am planning to move to Frankfurt, Germany.
People often describe me as a mix of grounded and funny. I'm quite extroverted, and i love storytelling: my friends call the voice notes i send them "little podcasts" because I somehow manage to make even the most random updates amusing. In my free time I do pilates and a bit of meditation, which helps me recenter when life gets overwhelming.
Milan definitely shaped my love for finance and a fast-paced life. But I'd like to expand my worldview and experience a more intentional and slower way of living. I feel drawn to a more laid-back environment, where there's time to truly connect with people, enjoy daily rhythms, and still contribute meaningfully through work. That's why I feel especially drawn to Spain.
Travel has played a big part in my life. At 16 I took a study trip to the south of France, and at 18 I joined an Erasmus+ exchange, helping out with teaching in Germany. First, assisting primary schoolers with homework, then helping teach Italian to 15-year-olds at a Gymnasium. I stayed with local families during both trips and still keep in touch with them. One even came to visit me in Milan! After joining Workaway last year for a month-long experience near Manilva, my love for solo travel really solidified. Since then I've traveled alone to Barcelona, Berlin and Frankfurt, and I'm hoping to make it back to Málaga soon.
I'm half Italian, half Russian (my mother's side is from Latvia but ethnically Russian, so Russian was our home language), which probably explains why I've always felt at home in international environments. I have a natural curiosity for how other people live, speak and think.
I speak six languages: Italian and Russian natively, English fluently, French at an advanced level, German at B1, and Spanish, which I picked up naturally by spending summers in Andalusia. Wherever I go, I try to speak to people in their own language rather than defaulting to English and it's rarely met with anything but warmth.
What draws me to Workaway is the chance to go beyond surface-level tourism and actually live in a community. I believe the smallest gestures like listening, sharing a laugh, giving advice, or just petting a stray cat make the biggest difference. That's the energy I try to bring into every interaction.
I can help with childcare, animal care (I have two cats at home and grew up around my relatives' dogs, plus I took care of the dog in the pictures during last Workaway), and I have a horseback riding and dressage background from years of practice as a kid and teenager. I know my way around grooming and tacking up, though I haven't ridden in a few years. I'm responsible, organized, and tidy, and I'm always happy to help with housework, gardening or cooking.
That's all for now. Hope to hear from you soon! -

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
I currently study Quantitative Methods for Finance and Insurance, which involves a lot of math. If your kids struggle with math I can help them with their homework, I know how to simplify most topics!
I also speak six languages: Italian and Russian are my mother tongues, I speak English at C1 level, I have a second high school diploma in French (Baccalauréat), and intermediate German and Spanish.
I know well how to take care of domestic animals like dogs and cats, and farm animals like horses. I know how to groom,to walk and to saddle them properly.
I enjoy cooking delicious meals and I am open to learning whatever other task you may need assistance with. -
