Hello everyone
My name is Kerri. I am a 41 year old Australian who is currently living my life long dream of travelling through Canada, Central America and South America. I have always had a passion for travelling and meeting people from all around the world and learning about their cultures. I wanted this trip to have more of a purpose and be more meaningful, so thought that doing some volunteering /workaways with local communities would give me a richer travel experience.
I would describe myself as an easy going, open-minded and enthusiastic person who loves to meet new people and learn/challenge myself to new things.
Dancing has always been one of my passions, where I started at 8 years old and have continued to dance as a hobby throughout my love. I hope to learn salsa dancing during my travels of Latin America and continue when I go back to Australia.
I am also a nature lover, I really enjoy hiking and spending my spare time at the beach. I also enjoy yoga, meditation and reading. I hope to find work away locations where I can do these activities.
I am really looking forward to the opportunities I will have through work away.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I studied Environmental Science at university and have worked for over 9 years in Environmental Regulation for the clearing of native vegetation, waste and mining industries. My job has allowed me to develop excellent writing skills and communication skills so I can build a rapport easily and articulate myself in a professional manner. I believe the skills I have developed from my job would be beneficial in teaching English (in addition to be a native English speaker). My experience I have developed in the Environmental sector will also positively contribute to undertaking sustainable projects with local communities.

My previous work experience in the hospitality and tourism industry for 15 years will also be beneficial in working in any ecotourism, hostel or hotel administration or waitressing jobs. I have excellent skills in multitasking and working under pressure in this industry.

I have also got experience petsitting through Mad Paws Australia, petsitting dogs,cats, rabbits and birds during 2022/2023 and have fantastic reviews by my clients.

I will have basic Spanish once I've completed my month of Spanish school in Guetamala starting in a weeks time.
