🌿 About Me

Hello! I’m Keico, a Japanese Brazilian living in Japan.
I was born and raised in Brazil and moved to Japan after university. I’ve been living here for 30 years now.

I’m currently looking for a gardening/farming experience in Italy!

✨ Why I joined Workaway

I love exploring the world and learning new things.
Now that my two daughters are grown, I have more time to do what I love.

My oldest daughter, who is currently backpacking around the world, told me:
“You’d love Workaway—you can meet people and experience daily life like a local! Would you like to do it with me?”
The moment she finished her sentence I said:
“That sounds sooo fun, let’s do it!”

Having time to talk with people and spending time like locals sounded too exciting for me.

🌱 What I Love

🪴 Gardening & Farming

I love getting my hands dirty in the soil!
At home, I grow flowers, herbs, and fruits on my apartment balcony.
Since I don’t have much space, I also like to volunteer at farms.

My past farm experience includes:
- Sowing lettuce seeds
- Thinning carrots
- Thinning cilantro
- Weeding
- Planting green bean seedlings
- Planting beet seedlings
It’s fun to learn about the unique personalities of plants🌱

🍳 Cooking

I cook both Japanese and Brazilian cuisine.
I love trying new recipes from around the world too!

I recently tried to cook Yam Woonsen, a Thai cuisine, and turned out to be really good!

🎬 Watching Movies

I love not just watching movies, but also exploring their background—who composed the music, the writer’s philosophy, the cultural context, etc.

When you know those details, you can learn much more from the movies!

I was always surrounded by plants since I was little.
When I was living in Brazil, there were a lot of fruit trees and vegetables!
After moving to Japan, I still keep growing new plants.

I’ve tried a lot of recipes from all around the world.
