Description

Hello! My name is Katie I am a seasoned world traveller and love to integrate myself into a home or community when I travel - I find this is the funnest and best way to get a real understanding of a place. I also love being around people and seek experiences that can provide a cultural or practical exchange.

This August/September, I am travelling in the Netherlands and Spain, and am open to opportunities here or elsewhere, possibly France or the UK for up to 2 weeks. This is a short stay I know! But I have some other plans with friends around this.

For most of the year, I live in Canberra, Australia and in my spare time I study Interior Design, spend lots of time running with my dog, with friends and I also play ice hockey!

Unfortunately, language learning is not perceived as a priority in Australia unless you speak another language at home, so I only speak English - but would be willing to try and learn the language of any host! I'm afraid I am better at maths, however ;) I would be willing to help anyone I can learn English!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

In 2010 I spent an entire year on farms, WWOOFing around North America! I spent time on farms in both the East and West of Canada, and in Arizona, Montana and in the Pacific Northwest in the US. Most farms were small goat dairies, so I have a lot of experience with goats - feeding, milking, etc. I also have some experience with alpacas and chickens, lots of experience with dogs, including having my own 9-year-old Samoyed X back home and working as a dog walker in the mountains of Vancouver for 6 months! So lots of animal handling experience. I love all animals and can offer pet minding/farm worker activities for you!

I have/also:

- owned my own bar and worked in hospitality jobs for over 20 years
- currently work in communications for the Department of Agriculture, so have people and admin skills, as well as managing social media
- currently study Interior Design part-time, so can help you plan your renovations/get inspired to!
- renovation experience - while I have no formal training in handy skills I have LOTS of experience, as I have renovated my previous home and am about to start renovating my new one - can help with building, painting, installation, etc and have experience using power tools
- I also have some farming/landscaping experience and am tall and strong, so am used to working physically demanding jobs!
- Oh, and I used to also work as a photographer so am happy to teach people about this or take some lovely photos for you!

Basically, I am an all-rounder who is competent, smart and strong, and will be interested in whatever projects you have going on. I am not afraid to get my hands dirty...and I think I'm pretty fun to be around!
