Hej :)

My background:

I am Kathi (29 years old, from Germany). I moved to Sweden about four years ago and have since tried to figure out how to live a life outside the hamster wheel. After a period of travelling Sweden with our self-built camper van “Matze” and working in elder care, it is now time for my partner and me to settle down in Göteborg and safe up for our dream: A piece of land on the west coast, where we can live with a few animals (definitely chickens, sheep, and the obligatory farm cat).

Why I do Workaway:

I am currently working on becoming a "trädgårdsmästare". I am still in the beginning of this new, more sustainable career, and very eager to learn more. Workaway is one way for me to visit people like you who already have done what we dream of, to help them with their projects and in return get all those valuable lessons you can’t read in books.

One thing I already learnt through Workaway is how important networks are, to be part of a community. To share knowledge, experience, tools, help. Already now I want to start building up that network, so we already know a few like-minded people once we get our own place. Therefore, my focus is on visiting places/farms on the west coast of Sweden, especially in Bohuslän.

My personality and how I work:

I would describe myself as honest, straight-forward, curious, (most often) energetic, the get-things-done-kind of type. I am able to work independently and on my own, but I also enjoy working together with others, as long as everyone contributes. If there is a problem or I don’t understand something, you can be sure I will let you know.

I am not afraid to get dirty and am not picky with my tasks. What needs to be done needs to be done. However, of course there are tasks that I enjoy more than others: I love to help with gardening and garden planning and to take care of animals. Something I would like to learn more about is how to preserve food (fermenting etc.) and carpenting/woodwork.

My passion and hobbies:

My passion is climbing (indoors, outdoors, on rock, trees, whatever). I also enjoy reading, being in nature (hiking, kayaking, …), yoga and meditation, and playing games with friends. I also like to take care of my indoor plants :)

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

My biggest skill is probably to see things that have to be done, to be able to think for myself, and be reliable. I constantly learn more about plants and gardening and love animals. So far, I have experience with taking care of horses, sheep, chickens, ducks, dogs, ... and cats. Cats love me. Plus, learning in itself is a skill and I am pretty good at that :)
