Hello!
I am Aysu, a 25 year old medical student from Turkiye! I love to travel and meet new people in my free time. I have already visited 35 countries and more than 100 cities all around Europe. Unfortunately I never had the chance to go to other continents so I would love to stay there longer than a normal tourist would and experience more how the life is there with WorkAway.
I love animals, myself have more than 10 cats and 3 chickens. I love yoga and meditation, it helps me with my stressfull school life. I love playing music and singing, I play ukulele, guitar and violin. I am a beginner tattoo artist and I have a crochet small bussiness. I can say that I am a creative person. And of course I love people! I can easily get along with almost anyone.
I believe I would make a good volunteer, I have good work ethics, I always do my best in the given time. I have respect for my coworkers and of course I try to enjoy the ride!

Hello!
I am Kai. I am the renowned boyfriend of Aysu. I am 27 years old and from the USA. I'm a student as well, studying language science at a university in France. I'm still studying this late because I took one gap year to travel abroad but I fell in love with traveling and 1 year became like 7.
In that time, I have been to almost 40 countries around the world, visiting North America, South America, Europe, Africa and Asia. In that time, I've used Workaway and other programs like WWOOF and I have enjoyed the experiences they've provided me, things totally different from my normal, everyday way of traveling.
I love art, specifically writing, and drawing. I like watching movies and following sports like soccer and basketball. I have always loved animals as well, growing up with several pets like cats, snakes and rabbits. I've also gotten a lot of nice experience working in animal care at programs similar to Workaway during previous trips.
I believe I would be a good volunteer because I am open minded and ready to take on anything. I am easygoing and get along well with others. I can listen and respect orders and I am hardworking no matter the task.
I hope to gain new memories working with all you wonderful people here on Workaway!

As a couple, we are curious, open-minded, and easy to get along with. We both value kindness, respect, communication, and bringing good energy into shared spaces. We enjoy simple moments — cooking together, listening to music, conversations around a fire, long walks in nature, and learning practical skills from the people we meet.

We are not looking only for accommodation or work, but for meaningful experiences, cultural exchange, and the chance to contribute to places and communities in a genuine way. We are hardworking, responsible, and always willing to learn.

We hope to create beautiful memories, help however we can, and leave every place a little better than we found it.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

We are both young, strong, very intelligent individuals. We have a lot of skills in arts and crafts. We can write, draw, crochet, tattoo and more. On the physical side, we are both fit and have worked outdoors before in farming and manual labor situations.
We both speak many languages, with English being the shared one. Aysu speaks Turkish and some Spanish as well. Kai speaks French, German and some Spanish and Arabic.
We can also help teach and tutor others in our languages and other life skills we have acquired throughout the years. We are very diligent, and easygoing. We are good listeners and follow directions well.

We are relatively new to Workaway. Kai used it one time years ago but Aysu has never used it. We are attracted to the site by the wide variety of activities and experiences on offer via Workaway.
We have both traveled a lot and now are looking forward to the chance to travel together and have meaningful and productive experiences while doing so, alongside all you beautiful people.

Kai stayed with us for a week in June, and it was a real pleasure to have another young man with a cheery, easygoing disposition and a sense of humour around. I had a wonderful time staying with Stephen and Danny in Chepelare. I only stayed a week so I perhaps missed out on more possible work to do and activities but it was still a great experience. I had only visited big cities during my trip to the Balkans beforehand so visiting the small ski town of Chepelare was a welcome escape, especially at the … read more retreat Stephen and Danny live at. You don't just get cultural immersion but also a view into small town life in Bulgaria.

The cultural sharing here is also very layered due to the mixed Irish and Japanese background of the family, coupled with the Bulgarian backdrop of course. Because of this, I felt like I was able to learn about and get insight into multiple different cultures at the same time.

Stephen and Danny were very kind and hospitable to me, really going above and beyond to make me feel at home. The home is spacious and full of charm as is the yard. There are also nice ares to walk and hike in the near vicinity as well. You can also easily stroll into town as well. There are no demands to get up early in the morning or anything so I often was able to freely explore if I happened to get up early.

We had delicious dinners together every night and i enjoyed watching Eurovision and Father Ted with Danny. We even watched some of the World Cup when it started haha. Stephen is also very knowledgeable on a bunch of different subjects so you can learn a lot from him. He has a lot of experience with a lot of different fields from past jobs but also just a lot of wisdom for different subjects in life in general and we had a lot of very interesting and enlightening conversations together during my stay.

About the work itself, none of it was too hard or demanding for me during my time there. The first few days I was in Chepelare there were major storms so we were limited with what we could do at first. But then as the weather cleared, I worked mostly in sawing wood alongside Stephen to be used for fires in the winter time. I also sliced some plastic sheets to be used as doorways in side buildings as well. And I did some light gardening in the way of weeding out some plants. But that was about it, nothing too crazy or demanding.

Overall, I really enjoyed my stay in Chepelare with Stephen and Danny and I see it as for sure one of the highlights of my trip to Bulgaria and the Balkans as a whole! It is one of those opportunities you won't regret because of all the different takeaways you can gain from it! I recommend giving them a try whenever you're in Bulgaria!

And to Stephen and Danny, thank you for everything, good luck with everything, and I hope to see you guys again some day! :)
