Hey! I'm Johnny, a fourth-year undergraduate student at UBC taking a gap summer to travel around Canada and beyond. I realized this might be my last chance in a long time to try something like this before settling into a permanent career after graduation. I'm excited to contribute my skills, energy, and dedication, in exchange for accommodation, meals, unique experiences!

I grew up in Beijing. and have lived in Vancouver for 6 years. I'm passionate about the outdoors and have traveled to more than 15 countries, always seeking new experiences and challenges. I've slept in a forest cabin in New Zealand, sailed an Optimist sailboat in the bay of Qingdao, and spent a night camping inside an astronomical museum. Traveling, to me, is like putting coins in a piggy bank - there's always a sudden realization that I've become a different person.

Through my travels and studies, I've developed strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and a genuine curiosity toward different ways of life. I'm particularly interested in connecting with people from different cultures and learning about their perspectives and stories. I bring enthusiasm for outdoor work, basic photography skills, cooking skills, and fluency in both English and Mandarin. In my free time, I like swimming and reading.

This is my first time using Workaway and I’m really excited for the opportunity to work with you! I’ll be available to travel starting July 2025, and would love to be part of a meaningful exchange. I don’t smoke or drink and I’m always open to learning and helping out in any way I can.
