  • Description

Hi! My name is Jayme and I love to travel! I know that is what you probably expect when you meet a workawayer, but it is a fundamental part of who I am. I am from the UK, but I grew up in a Spanish area in Tenerife, and in my adult life I have lived in Spain as a teacher and backpacked South-East Asia. I love travelling for the people and the culture mostly, but of course I am also partial to a beautiful beach. Through travelling, I love meeting the people of the world and learning about different lifestyles and mindsets, learning more about myself and the person I want to be through it.
I would say I am very much a people person, my passions and strengths being in childcare, hospitality and being bilingual in Spanish and English.

I am adventurous and curious, excited and driven to explore any opportunity I am given to its full potential. I am also a very bubbly person, I like to look on the brighter side of life and embrace meeting new people and seeing new outlooks. I am very empathetic, which I view as one of my best strengths.
I live by a philosophy I learnt when I was very young, in what is known as the 'starfish story'. It teaches how empathy is a strength, even in overwhelming situations, when you may feel unable to help. When you can't save every starfish, always remember you can make a difference to at least one. I apply this to everything, to those in need, to my outlook on saving the planet, it's the small things that matter, it's caring that matters.

This is why I have been successful in both hospitality and in child-care, doing my best to make sure people feel cared for and appreciated. I would really like to one day be able to contribute this further through charity and humanitarian work as well.

Plus de détails sur les langues qui m'intéressent
Having grown up abroad and taught abroad, I love learning and teaching new languages. In our ever-growing global society, language offers us so many opportunities to meet new people, to share and to express ourselves. Rooted in my passion to learn about the world, I see language as a vessel, bringing together different cultures and new understandings of both people and the world we live in together.

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

In terms of work experience; I have worked as a teacher in a Spanish school, a children's sports coach, a tutor in a secondary school and have 9 years experience in hospitality in hotels, restaurants and events, as well as attaining management level as a supervisor. I also have a degree in Spanish and English.

I pay attention to the details. With children, I think this is crucial to caring for them, understanding how to both comfort and encourage them in their growing knowledge of skills, as well as in themselves and the world.
In hospitality, my attention to detail is what led to my promotion, going above to make sure that every customer felt valued and cared for.

In essence, caring is essential in every aspect of life: for people, for knowledge and for our beautiful planet.

For the more technical, my skills are:
    - Bilingual in Spanish and English
I have a degree in Spanish, and have attained a C1 level
    - Experience living abroad and adaptability
I am experienced in all of the benefits and the difficulties in doing so, in adapting to new cultures and ways of life.
    - People-skills
attained through my working with children and in hospitality, I am able to adapt and work with all different kinds of people, including in times of adversity and difficulty.
    - Ambitious
I am always striving to be the best and learn more, and this is a strength in my work and in my adaptability when travelling.
    - Positive outlook and Attitude
Alongside the previous point, I view every experience as an opportunity to learn, even when things get difficult.
    - Writing
I have a degree in English, meaning I am trained to write effectively and creatively, allowing me to articulate writing that has meaning, impact and purpose. I would really enjoy being able to use this skill in any placement, for example in advertising and promoting, or in more day-to-day ways that I can help my hosts.
